We have a full moon this morning peeking out from a thin veil of clouds, temp is 16° at 5 am. We will have a tranquil weather pattern through tomorrow with slightly below normal temps.
We have a chance at our first below zero temps in the north-central regions of lower Michigan from Muskegon northwards if skies remain clear tonight. I don’t think we have had a zero or below reading in three years (Slim can verify this).
Saturday will see clouds increasing ahead of or next storm system. Early morning NAM and NAM Nest model runs are showing a couple of inches for Grand Rapids with increasing amounts southward, the GEM is showing a consistent six inches of snow from I96 to the Michigan/Indiana state line. GFS is giving us 4 or 5 inches in the lower half of Michigan. So, there is some inconsistency in the different model depictions though there should be some better agreement tomorrow where the storm system will travel. Below is the NWS’s take on this system.

So does it look like we will miss out on big snow amounts this weekend or is it still a little early to tell?
According to the NWS, 1-3 for GR and us, and 3-6 down near I-94.
Not too much then…. thanks for the reply.

It has been and continues to be a great week for outdoor winter sports! Fresh snow pack, cold nights light winds, and day time highs in the mid to upper 20’s! Not sure how it could be better? Oh I know, more snow is in the forecast! Incredible, get out side and enjoy people! Not sure if I want to snowshoe or ski today?
No traveling far this month again all of Michigan has snow cover on the ground pretty amazing and more coming ….INDY
You know it!
It’s been another quiet week. Only 3.6″ of snow for GR over the last 10 days. Well below average over that time period.
It looks like the official low at Grand Rapids was +12 if so this would be the 2nd coldest low at Grand Rapids this winter season. It dropped to 11 back on the 23rd. Here at my house the low was +10. It has not been 0 or below at Grand Rapids since February 1st 2019. At the current time it is partly cloudy and 18 here. I have 2.5″ of snow on the ground.
Slim
We have dropped to 9.7 degrees at 8 am – dress warm this morning!
There is still plenty of time for the snow storm to move the
north and pummel GGR with tons of snow!
