Weekend Forecast

We are dog sitting this weekend, my stepdaughters lab Dozer.  He gets along well with my other dogs and of course my cats.  He is always a welcome addition to the family, the more the merrier.  We have a large fenced in back yard for them to run around in so they don’t have to be taken out for a walk.

We have a cool 43° at 6am this morning which helps bring down our mean temps for the month of June.  We received just short of an inch of rain yesterday from the low pressure system moving through.  Below are the rainfall totals from yesterday.

Trends indicate rain chances will be best from US 10 to the north and I94 to the south with the area between limited to pop up showers and storms due to afternoon and evening instability.  The weekend will not be a total washout and temps will be in the low to mid 70s.  Of course the lakeshore will be cooler so inland lakes may be more pleasant to visit though we we see more clouds than sun.  Today will be be best day for having sunny conditions.

I am trying out a new feature forecast option using my own weather graphics – I can appreciate the time the local METs put into their broadcast graphics.  These will have to be tweaked and expanded as time goes by but this is the basic gist of what will appear here (eventually)..

Hey slim whats the record for least amount of 80* degree day’s in June I’m thinking Grand Rapids is on the way for one ..INDY!

Slim

Indy so far this June and this year Grand Rapids has officially seen just 2 days of 80 or better. The record low number of 80 days for June is just 2 set in 1916 with 5 in 1958, 1928 and 1917 in second place. And 1974, 1969, 1926 and 1915 tied for 3rd place with 6. The least 80 days or better for a year here in Grand Rapids is 36 in 1924 so far we have had just 2

Woke up to the furnace running up here in Lakeview Michigan this morning courtney 41* degrees chilly and some beautiful sunshine outside looking forward to a fun summer fest this weekend have a super one ..INDY!

Slim

I had the furnace on to take the chill off this morning as well. I had a low here at my house of 42. If that were a “official” reading it would be the 3rd coldest low for the today (the official record low for this morning is 38 in 1978 with 40 in 1942 in 2nd place and 42 “officially” in 1958 and 1933)

Anyone see any signs of this pattern changing???

It is becoming frustrating for those whom actually want a summer.

Well, most weather to the West eventually works this way, but I sure hope we don’t get the incredible record breaking heat they are having. It would be nice to see the rain stop for a while. The damage taking place along the lakeshore is just insane.

Storms track from the Pacific Northwest are going to slow down over the great lks next week that will help with warming temputure’s Mark I’m thinking around the end of the month Michigan will see a more Summery pattern! The pure Michigan tour industry is going to start to take a hit soon with all this cool and wet weather we are having hold on!! ..Stay Tuned INDY!
