Sunny & Dry

Yesterday was a perfect late summer, early fall day. Our high was 76° after a morning low of 55°.  Today will be a rerun of yesterday with highs near 80° with sunny skies. Normal high temps are 77° and the low is 56°.  Sunrise is 7:14 am and sunset is 8:04 pm.

Sunny skies and warm temperatures will continue through Friday. The weather over the weekend will become unsettled as chances for showers or thunderstorms increase late Saturday into Sunday. The exact timing and amount of rain and chance of thunderstorms remain difficult to pin down, as there will be two weather systems interacting with each other’s path as they both approach Michigan.

Looking ahead our high temps are expected to remain above normal for this time of year and precip near normal.

Forecast Discussion

- Locally Dense Fog this Morning -

A combination of effective radiational cooling due to clear skies
and calm winds with slightly elevated dewpoints has resulted in
locally dense fog development early this morning. Recent HRRR runs
show fog development across much of the southern half of lower MI.
Similar to yesterday morning, any fog that develops this morning
will dissipate shortly after sunrise.

- Showers and Storms Early Next Week -

High pressure currently settled over the region will move east
through the rest of this week and into the start of next. Quiet
weather will persist today through to Saturday with plenty of
sunshine and temperatures in the low 80s.

Rain chances will increase near the end of the week and into next as
a mid to upper level low forms over the Central Plains and
progresses east into the Great Lakes by the Sunday/Monday time
frame. Heavy rainfall will be the main hazard to monitor for as a
moisture-rich system lifting north from the Gulf merges with the
Central Plains system. PWAT values will increase into the 1.5-2
inch range, particularly over Southern MI. This axis of heavy
rainfall is expected Sunday/Monday with some lingering showers
possible into Tuesday and early Wednesday.
