Yesterday we had about 30 minutes of sunshine as the skies briefly cleared in the morning then the clouds prevailed for the rest of the day. The high was 55° and the morning low was 46°. We have 44° at 7 am. The frost advisory for this morning expires at 9 am.
Quiet and milder weather is expected as we head toward the weekend. However, some frost is possible across interior central Lower Michigan into Friday morning. With a high-pressure center moving into the area today we expect more sunshine throughout the rest of the week.
Forecast Discussion
Forecast concerns are minimal today as a large area of high pressure is moving overhead. IR loop shows lingering stratus over the central cwa. However, the cloud deck is being eroded from the south and north and will likely be gone by 12z or so. That will leave mostly clear skies today. Given some sunshine, highs will be a bit warmer today...around 60. We`ll start to develop a south flow tonight/Friday as the high drifts east and see a slow warming trend through Saturday. For those that like lower humidity and somewhat cool temperatures, the next couple of days are for you! Dewpoints will remain in the 40s through Saturday. We could see some high clouds advect in from the south as the tropical system continues to decay. Models do show a cold front moving south from Ontario Saturday, perhaps aided by the circulation around the weak subtropical low. The result is cooler Canadian air and highs in the lower 60s Sunday. The next chance for rain doesn`t arrive until the middle of next week when a Pacific cold front moves through.
We had such a good time in cape coral florida for Spring break im just heartbroken on what I am seeing I love weather and storms but never want devastation … This will take years to put back together people lifes have been devastated some forever 😢 INDY
Not a good situation!
Why would anyone in their right mind not evacuate if they have the means and the health to do so? Ridiculous!
The cool, pattern continues to ROCK! Multiple days with below normal temps! Wow, just wow!
As many other people have, I have spent a lot of time in the Fort Myers and Cape Coral area. My Sister lived there until she passed away in 2016. I received a text from one of my friends and as of 11AM yesterday she was ok sent me a video of her back yard. But has not responded to any of my texts since. Yes, she stayed in her house. As is the case of many people that live in Florida if you leave you have to find a place to go and at times that is not as… Read more »
That’s is good that your friend is doing ok and hopefully everyone is safe down there! That was a big hurricane.
Have spent time down in that area as well. Have been to Sanibel Island as well… can’t get there now. We saw damage that was done to canals from the water being sucked out and then filling back up about 5 yrs ago. I know the cell towers are down. Hoping all emergency responders are staying safe!!!
Looking foreword to the EF-3 tornado review gathering up in Gaylord this evening. Should be a fun time.
With some friends in the Fort Myers and Cape area I am still waiting on news from them good or bad.
Slim
Hopefully they are doing ok!
As is many times the case the clouds were did not break overnight and that keep the temperatures up well into the 40’s in much of our area. That was not the case in parts of norther lower Michigan were many temperatures fell into the upper 20’s and low 30’s. At Grand Rapids the official H/L yesterday was 54/47 there was a reported trace of rain fall and 4% of possible sunshine. The low so far here in MBY is the current reading of 45. For today the average H/L is now down to 69/48 the record high of 93… Read more »
