Quiet Weather Pattern this Week

Praise the Lord Big 10 football is back!.  Sparty took a sound thrashing from a much improved Rutgers and the Wolverines started out their season with a big win over the Golden Gophers.  Regardless of the outcomes, I was happy to see our teams play on Saturday though I am wondering for how long with Covid cases skyrocketing in Michigan.

After an active weather pattern over the past week, things will quiet down for most of this week.  We have a slight chance of a shower for tonight and Monday with perhaps a few snowflakes mixed in early tomorrow morning, after that, a drier pattern will set up.  Temps will be below normal which is in the mid-50s for late October.  The CPC is guessing slightly above-normal temps for the first week of November with a continued drier pattern.

The only thing that could throw a wrench into this short-term forecast is tropical storm Zeta moving into the Gulf of Mexico this week which could bring in some rain by next weekend.

Here are the rainfall totals for late last week:  We had 3.41 inches here in Otsego…

On my walk yesterday I noticed that there is still a lot of good color on the leaves here in the Grand Rapids area this has been one of the best color seasons here in many years. Yesterdays high of 49 was the coldest official high here at Grand Rapids since May 11. The overnight low both here at my house and at the airport was 35. At this time it is cloudy and 37 here at my house.

Rutgers ending their 21-game B1G losing streak is big news. Seven turnovers? You gotta be kidding me.

I think the biggest news is Indiana beating #8 Penn State.
