Moaning Monday

For those of you who have to drag yourselves out of bed this morning to go to work starting a new work week my hats off to you keeping commerce running and our economy humming.  For those of you who have retired like myself thanks to all those years you put in teaching the new generations how to do their jobs efficiently.  Of course, if you put in as many years as I did it got to the point the youngsters may have taught you a thing or two on new technologies.  I started in the workforce in the early 1970s so I saw a lot of changes in how things worked in regards to machinery.  I went to college in my early 40s to keep up with the new technologies of electronic devices and minicomputers used to run machinery.  Seems simpler days of mechanical devices that were easier to troubleshoot faded away.  If you want to get ahead of things ya got to go back to school or have a college education to get ahead.  This is just an old-timer giving some advice.

Yesterday we had .76 of an inch of rain with a few rumbles of thunder thrown in for good measure.  We are now up to 2.24 inches for the month.  Below are the estimated rainfall totals for yesterday.

The CPC has us with an 85% chance of above-normal temps for the rest of the month with near-normal precipitation.  Normal high temps are in the low 80s.  We will be coming into a time shortly where these should decrease temp wise as the daylight decreases when we get into August.

Looking at the CPC map above, looks like we are right in the HOT bullseye. So much for the cheap talk of no more heat, humidity, and 90 degree temps. 👎

Here is my area I missed out on much of the rain yesterday. I only recorded .031″. At this time it is clear here with a temperature of 65. The official last reading at GRR was a warmer 70. The official low at GRR was 67 and the low here at my house was a cooler 62.

Yeah, yeah, I’m up. Getting ready for another day of working for the Man. Seriously though, I have no complaints. I am able to work from home and I am very fortunate to even have a job – when millions and millions are struggling right now. I do not take that for granted. I ended canceling my tee time yesterday. Too much thunder and I wasn’t going to risk it.

Mark, you hit on a subject that many people do not mention much. And that is that times have been hard for many people for as long as I can remember. And I heard that from my parents who grew up in the 1930’s and then had WWII and my grandparents who while they had the so called roaring 20’s they also had WWI. I guess life for many has always been hard.
