We currently have 78° here at the Weather Center at 6 am. I would have to say this is the warmest overnight low we have had in quite some time. Our master historian Slim could probably verify this.
Radar currently shows a large area of rain and storms across northern lower Michigan with ten thunderstorm and marine warnings across the area.

After talking with SPC a few minutes ago, I was told they expect
the severe storm potential to be well north of our area over the
next few hours. Part of the reason for that is the effective bulk
shear is expected to remain under 30 knots over all of our CWA but
could be as high as 45 knots over the northern parts of APX CWA.
This leads to the idea the more organized storms would be in that
area not down here.
The mixed layer cape, as of 4 am is over 2000 j/kg over the
northern 2/3 of our CWA and over 3000 j/kg north of Route 10. By
12z that is expected to decrease to around 1500 j/kg near I-96 and
to 2000 near Route 10. Also the downdraft cape is mostly under 500
j/kg in our CWA but closer to 1000 j/kg north of Route 10. All of
this supports the idea the stronger storms will be farther north
than our CWA.
Having said that it should be pointed out that the latest run of
the NAM4km (06z)did really well on the developing storms in front
of the line near GRB. It does develop a squall line of sorts by 8
am that comes through GRR, LAN, AZO, BTL, and JXN. It has wind
gusts to near 50 mph near AZO. So we will continue to monitor this
situation.
This is the latest NAM NEST prediction of the storms coming through this morning. We will keep an eye on this.

Here at my house I added just 0.05″ of rain in the 2nd batch for a total so far today of just 0.31″ At GRR is looks like they have gotten as least 0.95″ on the day. While to my west Muskegon has recorded just 0.18″ on the day. The latest official temperature reading at GRR was 73 with a DP of 73 here at my house I have 79 with a DP of 73.

Not much in the way of rain here at my house. Just 0.26″ of rain. But just as I thought the temperature dropped down to 74 here during the rain so now instead of 79 the low so far today is now at 74 here and it looks like the low so far at GRR so far is 73. Currently here at my house it is cloudy with a temperature of 80 and a DP of 77.

Storms woke me up along with the dog. It sure was noisy. My sister emailed me some photos – they live up in Tawas and a huge tree went down.

Very hot and muggy night last night. Just had a decent thunderstorm roll through with quite a bit of lightening and almost an inch of rain. Even the rain didn’t drop the temp much, still 76 with a dew point of 73.
I have a 12:45 tee time. First time swinging the clubs this year. Hope the storms blow through by then. Have a great day!

At this time it is 80 here at my house with a DP of 73 with lots of clouds and rain in the area.

It was a warm overnight with the low so far at Grand Rapids of 78. The low so far here at my house is 79. I don’t think that this will stand up for the low for this date as it has to stay this warm until midnight for that to happen. Last year on July 19th the low at Grand Rapids was 77. On June 30th 2018 the low at GRR was 78 and in July of 2012 there were 3 days when the low was 78 on July 4th 7th and 17th.
