Winter Storm Warning

We have some exciting times coming into the area today thus the winter storm warning.  This is the type of warning which precludes any use of the word or words using the ‘s’ word for the next seven months.  So, as befitting the gist of Aprils fools day this proclamation of the usage of the word snow and any of its derivatives are hereby definitively banned from use until deemed necessary and appropriate.

The NWS has been warned of the warning however they choose to ignore it by using the ‘s’ word several times in the seven day forecast.  We choose to see warming trends and morel mushrooms at the end of the rainbow after stormy skies and warm rains.

The warning will hopefully chase the cold away bringing temps into the 60s and possibly 70s by this coming weekend which is no hoax (at this time anyway)….

Facts – GR ended up above normal for snowfall even though all the experts predicted otherwise. What a winter! 16 weeks of great skiing! It doesn’t get better than t(at! Incredible!

16 weeks no where around here.

How about that. With the nonsense hype of all the snow we supposedly received, March came in below normal for snowfall. And that was preceded by a below normal snowfall for meteorological Winter. If it wasn’t for that wet melting slop we had in November that hardly counts as snow, the overall total, which is barely above, would also be below average.

Short winter and now the 60’s are starting to already be a weekly occurrence. I love it! And all this sun too!

Glad to look back at this Below normal Month and move on to a warm April so ready for the furnace to be done running thanks Slim for the facts on paper!! INDY!

Slim

There is a good chance that the furnace will have to run in April and even May is not out of the question (unless you don’t mind a cold house)

At Grand Rapids the mean was 32.2° that is a departure of -3.4° the highest for the month was 61 on the 28th the lowest for the month was +8° on the 8th the maximum of 14° was the 2nd coldest maximum for that date. There was 7.9” of snow fall (average is 8.3”) the most on the ground was 6” While the ground has been mostly snow free since mid month there are still a lot of parking lot snow piles around the area. Ready for some more steady temps. I know it is a ways off, but the big swings are awful!!! Lots of yard work to do so some sun and nice temps would be GREAT!!! Happy April!!!

March finished only -3.4 degrees off the average with below average snow. The last big snow was almost a month ago now. Not bad at all for those that prefer a shorter winter. Looks like the first week of April brings 50’s, 60’s, and maybe even a run at 70 degrees!

I thought your 70’s and 80’s post for April
way backk in February was a little warm biased!! 80’s in April lol…INDY!!

Mookie
Mookie

Nope fairly common in April

Slim

A couple of points here 1st yes 70’s and 80’s are common it April in fact in recorded history there has only been 3 Aprils were the temperature did not reach 70 or better. Of course lows in the teens and low 20’s are also common. And for point #2 for March only -3.4°? come on just last August the departure was only 3.2° several posters were complaining on how “hot” is was.

You missed my point. -3.4 is a lot less than where March stood a week or two ago!
