A spring flower is starting to pop out
And there is a dandelion in bloom in my yard.

It has been a very mild end to December 2019 and for the first time that I can recall there are Dandelions in bloom this late into December. I also have one of my spring flowers popping up not sure how far it will get over the next couple of days we shall see. Over the last week Grand Rapids has seen some very warm temperatures. Christmas 2019 was the 3rd warmest on record at Grand Rapids 55° and Lansing 57° and the 2nd warmest at Muskegon 50° Then on the 26th new record highs were set at Grand Rapids 61° and Lansing 59° and at Muskegon it was the 2nd warmest December 26th with a high of 54°

Great news! The week of January 6th looks very wintry! Mark it down and don’t say I didn’t warn you! I absolutely love it!
Thanks Rocky, Been warned, marked it on the calendar and now will wait to see how it plays out.

🤣
Get ready for a wwa Monday night into Tuesday. It is going to get real wintry around here. How is that possible with all the warm weather hype on here! Incredible!
Currently 34* degrees and cloudy another cold December day out at thee YARDofBRICKS NE of GR ….INDY..
Yesterday’s “cool” weather still ended up 15 degrees above average. What a stretch! And on top of that, tomorrow we will be over a foot below normal with snowfall. Incredible!
Haven’t seen any dandelions around the house, but I have seen them in town when we were walking the other day. Incredible stretch of gorgeous snow free weather! Who wouldn’t love this?
I’ve seen a couple of dandelions and wooly bears too. Also have seen moths flying around the back deck light. Local met’s forecast shows continued above average high temps for at least the next seven days. He also said Monday into Tuesday we may only get an inch or so, and that will melt relatively quickly. What a great stretch of weather!
I see that what little cold was expected after the rain event is now gone with just mid 30’s for the coldest highs and then back into the 40’s so it looks like our mild spell will continue. Also of note is that while it is very cold in Alaska that Moscow also set record highs this past week as well (I wonder just how long they have been keeping records there?) At this time it is cloudy and 31 here.

Wow. Reading yesterday’s blog one would have thought we had 2 feet of snow coming this week.
2019 will probably be the costly year from storm damage across most of Michigan including a lot in the Grand rapids area what started out with record cold into ice storms floods wind severe thunderstorns tornado warnings we had it all record rain above average snowfall a storm track never changed and still is on going Strong right into 2020…If you love storms west Michigan a great place for them over the past year ..I’m thinking we could easily add a Blizzard to this list come towards the end of this month into February why not ….Have a good Saturday… Read more »
I will do a report next week on 2019 if the official information is out in time. Michigan did not have a lot of thunderstorms in 2019. Grand Rapids has set a new rain fall record and the winter of 2018/19 did see above average snow fall.

LOL
HAHA!!
What exactly are we getting ready for? I bought new tires over 2 months ago and have driven on snow 1 time since then. And that really wasn’t snow, just wet slop.
How about repeatedly comments how hot it is at your work and how dry it is at your house Coming June 2020 lol…INDY
You obviously pay no attention to anything. Where I work is being bought, by me, so I get to make it as cool as I want, and whoever said it is dry out? Why don’t you go outside and give us a snow depth report.
We have some of our Spring flowers popping up and dandelions in the yard too. As long as the trees don’t start budding we are in great shape. The seasons and years seem to fly by. Great post Slim and thanks for all the great info.
