Weekend Forecast

We find ourselves in an exceptional period of grand weather conditions in Michigan and all is good.  The only issue I have had is the proliferation of mosquitoes coming off the river and woods up to the homestead the past couple days.  I have had to battle ants this spring also – they are the worse I have seen them in the 20 plus years I have lived here.  I generally don’t like using pesticides around the lawn and grounds due to all the birds and animals scurrying about but the large ant nests have left me no choice.

Enjoy the sun and warmth today and tomorrow as our summer-like conditions will come to a halt and next week will return to below normal temperature-wise.  The 6 to 10 day outlook give us a 80% chance of below normal temps and the 8 to 14 day gives us a 63% chance of below normal temps.  Normal daytime highs are supposed to be around 80° with lows around 56°, dependent on where you live.

Rain chances will increase throughout Sunday – of course it is as I was planning on a barbecue in the afternoon.  Below is the NAM prediction of the next four days.  The second is the precipitable water (PWAT) forecast showing saturation values up around two inches.

Looking at the long range CFSv2 outlook we will continue an up and down temperature pattern through the rest of the month into the first part of July.

It’s very common and to be expected. The last 5 Junes have seen multiple days in the 60’s. June 2016 had a high of only 63 degrees.

Michael, ants are no fun. The mosquitoes are awful. If we could get the chipmunks to stay away from our strawberries we would be even happier!!!
