U.S. Snow Cover

As of yesterday, we had 16% of the U.S. with snow cover compared to 46.2% last year at this time.  We will remain in a mainly dry pattern through near mid-month with slightly above-normal temps.  Normal temps would be in the upper 30s for SW Michigan.  Most of the U.S.. has been in a dry pattern with high-pressure ridges blocking storm systems moving in off the Pacific.

Anyone heard how Mark and his family are doing today?

Thanks for all the well wishes. We have a great group of people here. 😁

We’re hanging in there. Feels like the flu, but much worse. Fever, aches, and exhaustion. Just want to sleep. Nasty stuff, for sure. Water, Tylenol, and Mucinex seem to help. One of our son’s teachers stopped by earlier. She brought us a get well soon card, some candy, and a poinsettia. Very sweet and thoughtful.

Glad to hear you are all hanging in there. Sounds like binge watching opportunity. 😉 I had the flu in college… it was nasty can’t imagine being worse. Get that rest and drink those fluids.

We are going for our 9th consecutive warm day in a row. We could soon be a foot below average in the snowfall department. We are having one of our sunniest years ever recorded. 2020 will also be our 4th straight warm year. I love it!

That is an odd looking snow map for early December. Take away the mountains out West which have snow most of the year and about the only snow is to our South. Looks like the only state that is entirely covered would be Ohio. The snow deficit is now growing by a half an inch per day!

It looks like with 3″ on the ground Detroit has the most snow is the state of Michigan.

Grand Rapids has only officially recorded 0.4″ of snow fall so far this winter season. (note the graphic above showing 0.2″ dose not match the November monthly total in GRR monthly summery of 0.4″ Lansing and Muskegon match) At this time Grand Rapids is now over 7″ below average of where we should be at this date. And we are now well past the average date that we record our first 1″ snow fall that date is November 19th. At this time it is mostly clear and 34 here at my house.
