Overall warmer than normal temperatures in November and colder than normal temperatures in October balanced out the Fall 2020 Seasonal temperatures to be closer to normal. Also, while Lansing resulted in fairly near-normal precipitation for the season, Grand Rapids, Muskegon, and Kalamazoo had below-normal precipitation.
We will be ‘stuck’ in our current weather pattern through next week. The main difference will be the amount of sun we receive per day. Temps will be in the upper 30s in SW Michigan through the daylight hours over the weekend. We should see mostly sunny skies tomorrow with slightly more sky cover on Sunday. There is a hint of a storm system for next weekend or thereabout that bears watching, other than that we should have clear sailing weather-wise for those of you putting up outdoor decorations. We should see a warming trend into the low 40s by the end of next week.

Very mild again last night, and oddly the temp went up to 40 degrees around midnight. Having lived my whole life in and near the “lake effect” zone, this coming week is generally about the time frame of some our biggest snow dumps from the lake effect. Not so much again this year!
There is no record for Holland but at Muskegon the average date for the first 3″ snow fall is December 7th The latest date for a 3″ fall is April 30 1907 there have been some years that did not have a 3′ snow fall. As for a 5″ snowfall the average date at Muskegon is December 27th

The 11 month mean this year is at 51.8° Unless the last half of December sees some record cold this year will end up being above average. It will not be a top 5 as the 12 month mean is 2012 was 52.8. the 12 month mean in 1921 and 1931 was 52.2. The 12 month mean in 1998 was 51.5 and the 12 month mean in 2016 51.5.
