Summer Returns this Week

I really have been enjoying this early fall weather – it is a welcome change from the heat we have experienced this past summer.  The heat will be returning however so don’t put away the air conditioners yet.

I finished tearing off the old wood from my deck last week and found that it makes good firewood for my fire pit.  I probably won’t have to worry about replacing it again in my lifetime.  It is nice having a new deck to look at.  I am one who generally fixes and repairs stuff around the home myself – it peeves me to have to hire someone to do things I can do myself and I can enjoy the fact that I did it myself and it was done right.

I have two Adirondack chairs I built over 20 years ago and they are still in use as are the playhouses I made for the grandchildren years ago.  The playhouses I build in my basement workshop over the winters – they were modular so I could take them apart in sections then reassembly them on a trailer to be moved to their new locations.

Thus is my retirement from the workforce, having time to do the things I want to do in my workshop or electronics lab and not being rushed to do them.  One has to stay busy as one gets older or things start to set up, weaken and fall apart. 🙁

The weather this week will be a mixed bag.  Today will be mostly cloudy with chances of a few raindrops mainly south of Grand Rapids.  Best chances will be south of Kalamazoo with a system passing to the south of the state.  Then things start to warm up with the possibility of temps around 90° Tuesday.   This will be short lived as showers and storms return to the area and temps settle back to near seasonal norms.   The best chances of rain will be Wednesday night through Friday with the passage of a cold front.

Here is the CFSv2 guess for the next 6 weeks going into October:

Looks like a warmer week ahead but could be wetter. I’ll take the rain – we need it.
Our tomato plants are as tall as wide and full of tomatoes. Flowers are doing great. My mini butterfly bush was a little behind but now is full of blooms and the butterflies love it. The little finches are loving the dried cone flowers too. This past week I have not noticed very many hummingbirds around.

Great post MV! My husband and I are the same about fixing things ourselves. We really hate to have to pay someone to do it. It’s amazing what you can learn on you tube about your washing machine. 🙂

Looks to be a warm couple weeks coming up, even temps back to around 90. Who would have thought? Summer continues both on the calendar and with the weather.
