Snow and Drizzle

I am generally up around 6:30 in morning to do the weather updates and the blog post.  It is nice to hear the birds singing in the morning as the skies brighten this early – this will be coming to an end on Sunday morning when Daylight Savings time is enforced and abuses our biological clocks.  Personally I would prefer we would stay on Eastern Standard time year around as I hate the time changing back and forth – just doesn’t seem right.  I prefer doing outside work during the morning before the heat of the day.

For now I am enjoying the fresh coat of snow on the ground and the birds at the feeders having their breakfast.

Chilly and unsettled weather will prevail through the end of the week as a slow moving low pressure system stalls and sits over the eastern Great Lakes Region. Scattered snow showers could cause some minor travel impacts at times.

Not seeing a lot of snow accumulation with the exception of a narrow band developing later today and tonight near the I94 corridor where we could see amounts of 4 inches or so.  Otherwise we could see drizzle over most of the area today except for the northwestern counties where we have a winter weather advisory for several inches of snow.  I am wondering if an advisory might be in place for the southern tier of counties later today.

MV – I have to agree with you. I wish they would leave us on Eastern Standard time & quit switching us back & forth.

Well we got a blanket of snow this evening. Huge snowflakes. We have a couple of inches out there. The trees look beautiful with the snow on them.

For the idiotic time change thing, I would argue that we should be placed in the Central time zone, and then leave it alone year around. That would keep us on what would equal out to Eastern daylight savings time. There s no way we should be in the same time zone as the East coast, hundreds of miles to our East. No one wants the sun rising at 4:30 or 5 am in the Summer, and about everyone hates the fact it gets dark at 4:30in the afternoon during the Winter. Put us on CST, no more time changes… Read more »

If we were on CST and we and we stayed on CST year round on June 20th the sun would rise at Grand Rapids at 5:03 instead of 6:03 and on December 20th the sun would rise at 7:12 and set at 4:12 BTW we are are the border line between eastern and Central time. I am not an early riser so I like it staying light later at night and not in the AM

Yeah, I think your right. Gets confusing for sure. Then we need to stay on the daylight savings time year around. We for sure don’t need the dawn light at 3:30am in the Summer!

Stay in EASTERN time zone and forget the time change! The time change is the most ridiculous thing ever! Stupid, idiotic, senseless, etc, etc, etc!

As of 9am, GR was reporting a whopping 0.4″ of snow. The same system that was forecasted to deliver 2-4″ just a day ago.
