After a great sunny weekend it is time has come to dust off the snow shovels as the sunny skies fade away to cloudy conditions and cold air proceeds to move back in. Winter storm warnings and advisories stop at our doorstep of lake Michigan – they extend from Wisconsin to Montana with blizzard warnings in South Dakota. At this point confidence is not high enough for issuing any winter weather advisories for us at this time though with slick travel conditions considered for Tuesday morning with an inch or less of snow this may chance.
This week will be chilly and unsettled with occasional snow or mixed rain and snow showers. Some light snow accumulations are possible, which could lead to slick travel at times. The Tuesday morning commute could be slower than average. Perhaps more noteworthy is the potential for a burst of heavier convective snow showers Tuesday afternoon and evening along/near the I-94 corridor.
Wednesday night through Thursday could bring a better chance of lake enhanced snow showers to area… The feature image is from Bittersweet – they still have around two feet of snow on the ground but due to the warmer conditions we have had over the past few days they will be closed through Thursday. I live less than a mile off to the right down in the valley in the image).

Snow in march, snow in April…hoping for Spring by May.
While we see the big storms to the west and east of us in the central Great Lakes my advice (it may or may not happen) is “Beware of the Ides of March” or look for a active storm period from March 15th to the 22nd note this is just an old saying in my neck of the woods.

It seems like a time frame when we see ice storms.
It’s March no more snow talk please lol! INDYDOG14!!
I second that INDY!!
I sure hope spring here is to stay but would not be too shocked if we see one or two snow events yet with a chance of yet a big event mid to late month. I hope it is not in April

Anything we get won’t last. Spring is here!!!
GR has now had 19 mild days without a below average day and counting! Also, GR is no longer above average snowfall for the winter and hasn’t seen any big accumulation in more than 3 weeks.
Looks like we are lucking out once again! If we see any snow, it probably won’t be anything more than a dusting! Keep the good news rolling! WILL HOLD OFF ON ISSUING ANY WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES AT THIS TIME AS CONFIDENCE IS NOT HIGH ENOUGH. MODELS HAVE BEEN TRENDING LOWER WITH QPF WITH THE BAND OF SNOW THAT COMES THROUGH TONIGHT AND TUESDAY MORNING, AND IF THIS TREND CONTINUES WE COULD BE LOOKING AT ONLY AN INCH OR LESS OF ACCUMULATION FROM THE INITIAL BOUT OF SNOW. OTHER LIMITING FACTORS INCLUDE THE AMOUNT OF DRY AIR CURRENTLY IN PLACE AND… Read more »
