Our snowfall in Otsego was 4.5 inches yesterday with a dusting overnight. Temp is currently 17° at 7:30am under clear skies. The heaviest lake effect snow is currently falling from a line from Grand Haven to Holland with the snow band stretching down to Gobles. This band is expected to move inland this afternoon before dissipating.
The big story is the cold air which is in place today shown by the NWS graphic below:
After we get through the cold air this week we may be looking at warmer than normal temps coming into Michigan next week which of course would cause all our snow to melt.
Don’t tell Barry we are now well above normal for seasonal snowfall! How could it be? Barry is a major cold and snow denier! Amazing!

Incredible cold for November 12th!
We would routinely hope for 51 degrees today…well, in the “real world” it’s actually 21. Perfectly normal for the Arctic…which is where we live. This is only the beginning of a winter most people will have to deny, to survive.

Looks like yesterday’s snow fall record in GR from 1995 was not broken. So close but not enough. Incredible how next week we swing the other way and all the snow will melt, bringing our total on the ground back to zero.

I’m not in Zeeland which you would know if you ever checked my PWS. Zeeland township, and no we were on the lower end of the totals because we are between the lake effect and the heavier snow that fell to the East. Just measured outside we have 3 inches on the ground.

Pretty impressive snow totals coming in from around lower Michigan on November 11th will be one date we will always remember in the record books for snowfall many single day records slashed in local towns and still snowing ..Like President Trump win win and keep winning ..INDY ….
The highest snowfall amount I have found in lower Michigan is in Northport in Leelanau County at 19.4 inches.
Lake Orion has 12.6 – Columbus at 14.1 and 16.5 in Decatur.
We currently have light snow falling in Otsego
Good morning! Here at my house I recorded 1.2” of new snow fall overnight. There is still 5.0” on the ground here. The overnight low here and at the airport was 17 during some short clearing. At this time the temperature here is 18 with light snow falling. Yesterday the H/L at GRR was 32/22 and there was 5.5” of snow fall.
