Yesterday we had .20 of an inch of melted precip from rain and snow which takes us to 3.75 inches for the month. Our high temp was 39° and the low was 32°. We currently have 35° at 7 am. We start our uphill climb to warmer temps today though it will remain much colder than normal with highs of 35 north to 45 south. We have temps rising into the 70s this weekend with chances of storms and rain before another cool down back into the 40s.
Forecast Discussion
- Light Snow Ending This Morning - Upper troughing will progress east through this morning with ridging quickly moving in place for today. High pressure will slide in by this afternoon cutting off moisture and ending any lingering precipitation by the late morning. Dry conditions will linger this afternoon and through much of Wednesday. Temperatures will peak in the upper 30s to low 40s and clouds will begin to break up with some clearing possible this afternoon and evening. - Mid-Week Light Rain - Dry conditions last through much of Wednesday before our next system arrives during the evening. This will occur as a 60 knot low level jet pivots overhead in conjunction with a mid-level shortwave. Precipitable water values will touch near 1 inch, especially south of I-96, so decent rainfall rates will be possible between about 8pm to 2am. Total rainfall amounts of around 1/4 inch look possible with this system. Rain showers move out of the area Thursday morning with high pressure taking hold much of the day Thursday and into the first half of Friday. - Warm Weekend With Some Storms Possible - A warm front will lift north Friday night into Saturday bringing additional chances for rain showers and storms. As the front moves through, the associated surface low will deepen rapidly while it moves through Minnesota and into southern Canada. Once the front lifts north Friday night, temperatures will warm into the 70s for many areas this weekend. By Sunday evening the associated cold front will sweep through Michigan bringing additional chances for a line of showers and storms.
Going to be another cold night probably in the 20s brrrrr. Packing my stuff tonight for my upcoming trip. Nice to get away for a little bit.
38 degrees out currently in my area not sure we even cracked 40 today wow…iNDY
I think in GR it made it up to the low 40’s which is very cold for this time of year and then throw in the snow this morning and sub freezing low temps you get an incredibly cold mid April day! An amazing cold snap! Then look at the rest of the country heavy snow in New England and the blizzard last week in the pains! Wow just wow! Surely no blow torches in sight!!!!!!!
It looks like the high at Grand Rapids will be 42. That will make this the 6th coldest maximum for any April 19th at Grand Rapids. As for the “blow torch” I am sure there will be someone who will be coming out with the upcoming brief warm up this weekend. But then again it is always warmer on Oxford street if you know what I mean.

Lucky you, because the weather here this Spring has been one step above horrible! If anyone is golfing in West Mi today they should be have their head examined!

Wow, what a cold pattern and after a mini warm up it is right back down the temps go!
This has been a really cool April so far. I’ll be heading to Austin in a couple days so I’ll get a short reprieve… but hopefully things warm up when we start May. The average high is 60, so anything from 50-70 is normal to me at the moment. Yesterdays high of 37 was pretty crazy!
Woke up to a little sunshine this morning but now the clouds have taken back over. Still have some spotty areas of snow on the ground at my house and a slushy deck. Temp is 33.
