I am trying to keep things on a happier note here at the Weather Center even though stuff seems frightening around the world. The Lions aren’t helping matters with their recent trades which are bent on failure for another season. We had the National Guard pull into town yesterday setting up a tent at the hospital in Plainwell which is another prediction of things to come.
All in all, we as Americans have been holding up well with good attitudes during this crisis. I went to Walmart and Meijer’s this week and people there seemed friendly and willing to talk and smile at each other, which is a good sign of how we stand together during bad times.
Now I am told to stay home (by my wife) as I am one of those who have underlying medical conditions and in my 60s. I have plenty of things to do here while trapped on my property. I am lucky to live in the country and have a double lot surrounded by woods. I started raking the yard and flower beds getting ready for the grass to grow. I have my hobbies and a lot of books to read, plus Amazon Prime and Netflicks so I am good to go.
When we had the kids at home we had board games and stuff to do outside. I stayed out of the paintball gunfights they had outside and in the woods. One important thing is to continue their education which can be provided online or books that can be purchased online.
We have many resources here on this site especially under the MIReady menu for the family to read. With the Skywarn classes canceled we have the info here plus other info on the weather and how it works.
Before computers and the internet, I used to play a lot of chess, used to be pretty good at it too. All in all, there are a lot of things to do at home to keep everyone entertained. If the kids get bored tell them you will start them on spring cleaning which will help them along to find something to do.
I used to tell my kids all we had to play with were sticks and rocks and our imaginations would cause them to be whatever we wanted them to be.
So, this whole crisis we are going through will cause families and neighbors to become closer and our faith stronger as it did during 911. We shall overcome these things just as our grandparents did during WW2 and the hardship that brought, we became a stronger nation and a stronger more resilient people.
26* degrees out at thee YARDofBRICKS cold enough to snow feels like Winter outside we are getting there …INDY
It is chilly out there. My husband said earlier it felt like a Fall day.
Hey Slim – when was the last time we had a 40 degree drop in the same day?
I do not have records for the biggest one day temperatures drops but on November 11th 1911 the high was 72 and that dropped down to 39 and then all the way down to 15 on the 12th.

👍
That was quite a cold front. 62 when I got up. Now it’s 35.
I just got back from my daily walk and boy that wind feels cold out there. The current temperature here is now down to 33. That is down from the overnight “high” of 60 here at my house.

MV… maybe you should have a post about things that you/us have seen on Netflix or Amazon that is good to watch. Or any great games to play with family.

Last night, I had a dream that I was a muffler. I woke up exhausted.
LOL!!! Youngest told me… Did you hear the joke about a roof? Nevermind it’s over your head. LOL!!!
LOL!!!
LOL!!
MV was there any lightning in our area last night? I thought maybe it was lightning….but it may have the fire that was in Otsego. We heard sirens as well.
The Otsego Fire Department said it was investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed parts of a self-storage facility, Thursday night.
Otsego fire chief, Brian Weber, said he saw smoke on East Allegan Street at around 11:15 p.m. He found a building at Total Storage Solutions fully engulfed with flames.
Fire crews were able to stop the fire from spreading, but one of the two storage buildings was burned down.
This is next to HQ Flooring near Brookside park
I put on the scanner last night. That must have been the light I saw. Sirens woke a kiddo… wondered if it was tornado siren. I thought that as well. Checked news.
Officially it jumped up to 62 at the airport. Here at my house I recorded 1.15″ of rain fall yesterday and overnight.

Back to back 60+ degree days! That puts GR at three 60+ days so far in March already.
Like I said in the record books it will indicate that GR had two days in a row of 60° or better but in fact the temperatures were only in the 60’s all in one night. That has happened for the lows in the past as will so I guess it kind of works out.
Slim
Just like one cold night can make two daily lows. It all evens out.
We had .49 of an inch of rain bringing our monthly total to 1.39 for the month.
It looks like my part of Kent County had some of the heaviest rain falls overnight.
Slim
Great Scott 1-3 inches of snow is in the forecast for Sunday night now yes it still can snow at the end of March …We are getting there …INDY
we had 61.5 at 3am before it started falling – currently 38
Wow 60 officially yesterday! And today might go down as being in the 60’s too? Love it!
Yesterdays and today’s official highs are what I call a backward daily maximum. That high of 60 must have occurred just before midnight and that 62 looks to have occurred between hours as well. So happening during the night time very few people even noticed that we had back to back days (night) in the 60’s.
Slim
Yeaa slim I agree midnight don’t count lol… But some will jump for joy about that .. wind chills in the 20’s during the day will feel cold outside ….INDY
