Not much to say about the weather – just more sun without a hint of rain or snow right on through the middle of next week. Today will be a bit cooler but we have the promise of warmer temps as we progress into the weekend.
Forecast Discussion
- Weak cold front with cloudier skies today - A short wave with a corresponding cold front will move through the region this morning. Latest satellite shows clouds continuing to increase from the north which will be a change of pace from the last few days. March has seen very little cloud cover, where today will be closer to what Michigan is used to with cloudy skies and a mix of sun and clouds through the day. The moisture though will be limited to clouds with no precipitation expected. The northerly flow will couple with the cloudy skies to drop temperatures back to more seasonable readings. Highs will be in the 30s. - Mild weather, High pressure pattern through weekend - A large high pressure system will then build over the central United States which will allow for clearing skies and mild temperatures during the daytime with cold evening temperatures Friday through the weekend. - Change to wet weather beginning mid next week - Beginning Monday the pattern will begin to change. A weak short wave will ripple through the region. The models are fairly dichotomous with the GFS having more moisture and a chance of precip Monday morning. However given the dry air mass, especially through the lower levels, this is not expected. The Anomalous signal for the system midweek remains intact so there is a fair amount of confidence in a strong moist weather system bringing precipitation to lower Michigan Wednesday into Thursday. Warm air ahead of the system could allow for temperatures to reach as high as 60. The upper level low that will bring that system through will be a harbinger as next weekend will have the potential for more rain.
