We are in a dry pattern once again – the last time we had rain was on the 13th and we have little or no expectation of rain through this week. Our next chance will come Saturday night into Sunday. The smoke from the wildfires out west will return today and through much of the week which could hold our temps down a couple of degrees. This has been good for the farmers as the corn and soybeans will dry and be ready for harvest. I have already seen corn being harvested around the area which is early compared to the past couple of years.

Forecast Discussion
- Dry with moderating trend of temps this week A consensus of latest short to medium range guidance continues to indicate that temps will undergo a gradual moderating trend this week. High temps will reach into the 70s for most of the week and could flirt with the 80 degree mark late in the week and Saturday. Dry wx is forecast through the upcoming week with a large sfc ridge to the east of our region remaining in control of the wx pattern. - Smoke aloft returns Mid level winds becoming westerly will cause smoke aloft to advect back into our area. This notion is also supported by short term smoke dispersion forecasts from the HRRR. Max temps will probably be held down by a couple of degrees this week on days that smoke is most prevalent. - Next good chance for rain Sunday into early next week An overall medium range guidance consensus continues to suggest that a rather strong cold front will bring the next good chance for rain by Sunday with post frontal showers expected to linger early next week as the upper trof axis moves overhead.
Nice day for the final day of Summer! Watch for another awesome looking sunset tonight with the smoke in the sky. Looks so cool when it gets that deep red tint to it. And how about them Lions? Yet another come from ahead blowout loss. Some things never change. 👎
The new CPC shows a warm October and a warm October-December. Looks like 2020 may very well be our 4th straight warm year in a row!
Brief cool down and now back to our long-term trend of sunny and warm! I love it! 80’s this week? Summer may be ending but it will sure still feel like summer. I love long summers!
Sounds like Fall will be warm too. A nice long warm Fall !!
