In case you hadn’t noticed there is a new menu item “Meteo History” which covers the achievements over the years in regards to the study of meteorology and development of instrumentation to record weather phenomenon. I put this up a couple of weeks ago – the history goes back to 3000bc. There is a lot of stuff up in the menus on current and past data, educational materials, weather outlooks, etc.
Now, from the snow and ice archives here is the current northern hemisphere snow cover map from yesterday:
Last year the Great Lakes region had snow on the ground:
Last year the temp was 14° at 7 am on the 13th and we had the following snowfall reports from the NWS:
Many areas in southern Michigan picked up half their seasonal snowfall last November and most of the rest of the season was a bust.
We just had the dog out and it is so cold out. It’s a wonder it’s not snowing. 🙂
Local TV met just said we could see wind gusts Sunday as high as 55 mph. Batten down the hatches!
Currently 34* degrees out at thee YARDofBRICKS NE of GR feels brisk outside love it …INDY
I don’t recall the snow event from a year ago, so I looked it up on the NWS GR Climate and Past Weather section. We received only 5.5″ of snow at the airport, so perhaps that’s why I don’t remember it.
Everyday the forecast models are looking more and more wintery towards the end of the month gots to love that …Let’s hope we tons of of lake effect snows in December baby ….Have a good Friday ….INDY
I am seeing that also, however, we all know how these things can change…
Yeah the past couple Winters the snow is always 2 or 3 weeks out, 2 or 3 weeks out, then it’s Spring and nothing happened. Models and forecasts have not been very good recently.
Looks warmer than the last time I checked a few days ago. Mainly 40’s and 50’s now all the way until December.
I recorded 0.09″ of rain fall here overnight. At this time it is cloudy and 39. The temperature has been slowly falling since I woke up so this could be another day where the high was reached before sun rise if that is the case the high for today will be 43. There have been several days this fall when that has happened already. While this happens a lot in the winter it is more uncommon in the other seasons.
Slim
We had a high of 42 at 7 am and also .09 of an inch of rain overnight – currently 38 in Otsego
A lot of good weather history in the new Meteo History section.

Agreed. Nice work, Michael.
It was been a very different November than last year. Record breaking mild and virtually zero snow so far, just a dream pattern to be in.
