Forecast Discussion
...Small chance of precipitation today through Tuesday night... Low pressure moving across Ontario will push a weak cold front through the cwa this afternoon through Tuesday. We`ll see increasing clouds today followed by a chance of light rain this afternoon as the front moves southeast. The northern cwa stands to see the best chance at seeing any light rain which may mix with light snow tonight/Tuesday. A weak short wave sinking south may produce light rain and snow Tuesday night, but the wave isn`t well defined and confidence isn`t high on this occuring. ...Better chance of precipitation Thursday/Friday... A stronger short wave moves northeast from the Rockies later in the week. Models have been showing this for a few days, but still differ at bit in timing with the GFS quicker than the ECMWF. Given the placement of the upper wave over IL/IN, the GFS`s placement of the sfc low is probably a bit too far north. Thus, the ECMWF`s farther south track may be better. And so, the chances for light snow across the cwa are a bit higher than with the GFS. The bulk of the cold air remains north in Canada, but enough will likely be present to develop light snow north of I-96, with mixed rain/snow over the far southern cwa. Any accumulations will remain an inch or less. ...Another system Sunday/Monday... Models are trying to carve out a deeper trough over the southern Plains and push a short wave northeast from there toward the Great Lakes late Sunday/Monday. This wave might be able to tap some Gulf moisture along the way and provide some light snow as it moves north. This would be a situation where the precipitation begins as light snow and then transitions to rain as warmer air moves in from the south.

Would not be surprising as we are in a similar pattern as the past couple with year 3 of La Niña. And while GR had the high snow total back in November, the lakeshore areas have not and are now running below average in snowfall yet again.
Strong indication 10 days out or so showing some serious Winter weather coming around west Michigan!! Just in time for Christmas we will keep adding to our all ready above snowfall for the season…..Go Blue …INDY
