Another Hot & Humid Day

I was wondering last night as I sat outside watching fireworks how much blood (in gallons) the mosquitoes drank from our bodies – darn little vampires.  This would have been a good year to have stock in the companies who produce bug spray.  Seems if one left one inch of skin untreated the little critters would find it.  Trying to work outside the past few mornings has been miserable – between the humidity and the bugs it has been a struggle to get anything done without having a free hand to swat or wipe sweat with.  I suppose this is natures weight loss clinic.

We did manage to get a bit of needed rain here yesterday afternoon – a quick .17 of an inch which started as large rain drops and the air cooled 15° which felt nice – it didn’t take long for the heat and humidity to build back in when the sun came back out.  My step son who lives about a mile away didn’t get a drop which goes to show the hit and miss variety of storm cells we have been seeing as of late.

Today will be another miserable day with high temps near 90° and high humidities – I think I will stay inside today and play in my electronics lab or woodshop.  I have spent this past week working on outside projects – I think it is time to stay inside and rehydrate.

There is some relief coming as a cold front approaches tomorrow and dewpoints will slowly fall – temps will remain in the 80s though and the mosquito forecast is still near 100% probability.

Rain chances are around 30% for the area for today and then low to nothing through mid week next week.  Temps will manage to fall to a more tolerable low 80s by Sunday.

The latest update from the CPC shows our temps to remain slightly above normal through mid-month and rain chances near normal.

The overnight lows that don’t get below 70 during hot stretches like this are what make things miserable. You just can’t get a break when it never cools down. Walking out of the house at 4:30 in the morning is usually refreshing, but not this week.

At this time here at my house I have a temperature of 74 with a DP of 72 once again it was a nice warm walk this morning with clear skies and a good touch of humidity in the air. Summer is here.

About as bad as it gets when you go to work at 5 a.m. and the dew point is in the 70’s and overnight lows hardly get below 80. Going to be a long day today. On the plus side in 10 days we will be in the Colorado mountains where they are still clearing snow off the back roads. Should feel way better there.
