Excitement (or dread) builds with the anticipated cold air predicted to come in next week. As of this writing I am seeing west winds moving across lake Michigan at 20 knots (23mph) or better Tuesday and Wednesday. This would give the Grand Rapids to Kalamazoo area snow – still to early to predict snowfall amounts as other variables come into play, we will just have to wait and see.
I am an optimist, I firmly believe in the saying “Don’t worry about tomorrow as today has enough worries of its own.” Being a scout in the 1960s I still believe in the motto “be prepared”… we always keep blankets and extra coats in the car and truck just in case – I will get more into safety tips next week.
Quiet conditions are expected today through early Sunday. Temperatures will have a warming pattern into the weekend, reaching the 40s by Sunday. Rain will then develop Sunday into Monday, changing to snow late Monday.
After seasonably mild temperatures Sunday and Monday, arctic air will blast into the Great Lakes for the middle of next week. High temperatures Wednesday are only expected to reach the upper teens to low 20s across West Michigan. Snow accumulations are possible Tuesday through Thursday, especially along and west of U.S. 131. Now is a good time to make sure your home and car are ready for more snow and cold weather! If you have any Christmas light you want to get up outside now is a good time to get that done…

After 5 days into December 2019 our area has seen cloudy skies and very stable temperatures. At Grand Rapids December so far the mean temperature of 33.1° and that is +0.1° the high for the month is 39 and the low so far 26. There has been 3.6” of snow fall. At Muskegon their mean is 34.6° that is a departure of +0.8° their high so far this month is 41 and their low is 28. And they have reported 2.4” of snow fall. 1 week into December and another month that looks just like last year. Might change for a few days next week, or it might not.interesting everyone is above average temp wise. Seems we should be 8 degrees below average.

Another very mild morning today, 42 when I came to work. Last night was Zeelands annual horse drawn sleigh rides, and just like last year it was 40 degrees with no snow and bare ground. Since they’ve started doing this a few years back I think they’ve had snow 1 time.
Yes INDY will be adding on to his 107 inches for season snowfall out at thee YARDofBRICKS NE of GR next week only 96 inches of snow to go who said we don’t get snow in December ??lol…Have a great Friday..INDY
