Feature image is from Sandy (Hudsonville) taken near the piers in Holland, thanks. If you have a photo you would like posted email it to me and I will eventually get them up.
We are now experiencing synoptic snow events rather than the lake effect we have had in the previous month. So far the systems haven’t tapped into the gulf moisture and we have been on the north side of them. South west Michigan has had snow on the ground more often than not which is a reversal of last winter.
East of Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo out of reach of the lake has of course had mostly bare ground or light amounts. Now with the synoptic events everybody gets some! Everyone has had a taste of the Arctic air which we saw very little of last year. Bittersweet Ski Resort a mile down the road from me has been in business since before Christmas.
Cold weather will continue through the rest of week, with fast moving systems bringing occasional bouts of snow. One system tonight will deposit a quick 1 to 3 inches, with the highest amounts south of Interstate 96. A stronger system impacts the area on Thursday night and Friday with the potential for 3 to 6 inches. Needless to say we could see another 4 to 9 inches of snow over the rest of the week. A system coming this weekend is still up in the air in regards to what path it will take.
The question in mind is this going to last. I believe we will see a warmup coming with a predicted polar vortex split but I don’t think winter is over after next week – if you would like to read Dr Judah Cohen’s blog on the split and thoughts of on the rest of this winter you can find it here.
For the sake of argument lets assume 50% of this will be rain. The other 50% will equate to about 4 feet of SNOW!! We are in for a wild ride! Hang on!
Blizzard Like Conditions possible as well

Nice Blog Post MV “A week of COLD and SNOW! I love it?
Anyone else watch the Space X launch? So cool. They way they were able to get the boosters to land simultaneously was incredible.
I wonder if GLD is down there and was able to see it in person?
Yup! We all watched it on tv. Simply amazing! I would have loved to have seen that in person. Must have been incredible. Here is a live feed of the Starman in the Tesla car, just floating along through space:

It was awesome to see them both land like that. I never thought that would happen.
Awesome to just see it on TV, could you imagine in person?
What is this, no cold on either the 6-10 or 8-14 day? How can it be? Winter is just about over!

“Dirty car season” looks to be staying here for awhile.
Good afternoon. Thanks Mike for using my photo. It was a great day to be out there. Well the sun was out but seems to be hiding behind some clouds that have moved in. We had about 3″ of snow overnight. We were plowed out but you can’t tell.
Nice Pic. Sister Sandy. God Bless You and Yours.
Well I have a (the) cold and still not feeling all that great. Here at my house I had 3″ of new snow and now have a total of 9″ on the ground. The way I have felt the past few days I am ready for spring.
Slim
Hope you feel better soon. Like they say lots of rest, fluids & treat the symptoms.
I don’t think I have ever been the first to comment. 🙂
Picked up an additional 4 to 5 inches last night, thanks to Lake Enhancement. Snow depth is now over a foot again.
Lake Effect snow showers ongoing with some bigger flakes starting to mix in now.
