Great Weekend Ahead

With high-pressure domination, there is not much to talk about weather-wise for Michigan right on through the weekend into early next week.  Temps will approach or exceed 70° each day with lots of sun.  The only area of concern is the drying conditions in the wooded areas and grasslands especially for those of you who burn leaves in the fall.  We expect windy conditions this weekend so take care to keep on eye on any burning you do.  Remember what has been going on in California this fall.

I mulch most of the leaves with my lawn tractor.  Those I have to rake go onto a tarp and are dragged down into the woods.  Mulching is good for the soil and will help build a base for a better lawn next spring.  My wife and I pretty much have everything cleaned up and put away for the winter – now all we have to do is enjoy the weather for the next few days.

I went hunting yesterday (small game) and got overly warm in my hunting vest and camo.  I will hunt up to deer season before the woods fill up with those after deer – seems things get a lot noisier then.

What a beautiful day!! Went for a walk and sat outside too. All the windows are open airing out the house of all the germs. I am getting the Christmas lights out to see what is working and hope to get them up this weekend. This warm weather in November sure helps with the heating bill.

I was out for my walk and was very nice to be outside in November without a coat on. At this time I have sunny skies and 70 the official reading is now 69 and the high for the day at GRR looks to be 70 and that is good for the 3rd warmest November 3rd on record.

Mookie, check it out, no change for as far as the eye can see! When you got that cold stuck up in Alaska, that is great for us here in Michigan! I LOVE SHORT WINTERS!

This has the makings of the warmest start to any November in recorded history. And that could lead to a very warm month over all. Now the next question is will this lead to a warm winter? In the past that has been the case. So we will have to see if that happens again this winter.

It is quite something. Customers were complaining this afternoon how hot they were so I actually turned the AC on out front for them. In November. Wow!

NWS upping their temps now! “Daily highs will be in record territory, particularly Sunday through Tuesday when the warmest air is expected.”

Slim

Here is a question for you Mookie. What is you position on why 4 of the warmest Novembers in Grand Rapids recorded history have been in the last 20 years and 3 have been in the last 10. And that is before this year

Our climate is warming and we can see this most noticeably in early spring and late fall. Think March 2012. Or the fact we are going for our 4th straight warm year in a row.

Slim

I just wanted to get you statement on that. As you know the updated 30 year averages will be out soon and of course for most locations the averages will be going up.

Could it be because an 80 year old with dementia may win a race??

The term is “anomaly”…a short opportunity to finish Winter prep, before “reality” establishes itself.

The official low for November 5th 2020 at Grand Rapids was 50 this is a 8 way tie for the 5th warmest minimum for any November 5th. The official low at Grand Rapids so far today is 49 if that holds it will become the a tie for the 4th warmest minimum for any November 6th. Looking ahead the record high for today is 77 set in 1975 that looks to be safe but we are is range for top 5. For tomorrow the record is 69. For Sunday it is 72 for Monday it is 73 For Tuesday it… Read more »

I can’t believe we’re seeing a full week or more of “summer-like” weather this close to the solar minimum. In just over a month, the sun will start to be getting higher in the sky once again and the days will be getting longer.

My brother said the same thing MV. He’s been behind our house the past couple days deer hunting and has come back a sweaty mess saying he’s overheating. I told him he needs to hunt in shorts, and if he gets a deer he’d better get it on ice or it will turn rancid before he can process it. Crazy weather!
