Not much to say weather wise. We have at cool 50° here in Otsego this morning. We have high pressure over the Great Lakes which will give us sunny skies and a comfortable airmass to work and play in right on through the weekend. Our next chance of rain won’t come until Monday.
Large portions of the state have become abnormally dry due to the lack of rain and hit or miss showers this month. I think the yellow should come up into the southeast corner of Allegan county and am wondering if the nature of pulse showers can skew this data. Allegan has received more rain this month than Otsego and Plainwell. Of course not many have soil moisture sensors included with their weather equipment. A lot of Allegan county has sand and the rain tends to go straight through to the water table.
Abnormally dry means we haven’t had a normal rainfall the past few weeks, it doesn’t mean we have a drought – with the hot conditions more moisture is lost from the soil and is not being replaced. Luckily with the abundant rainfall in June the roots of our lawns run deep and have remained green (at least mine has). I would expect any rain we receive over the next week will erase large portions of yellow from the map.

July and August are not the past 7 months and would make 2 of the past 6 months. Wow.
The latest CFS weeklies show pretty much average to above average temps through September.
The CFSv2 is showing a cool spell until the 2nd week of September than a warm up for the 2nd and 3rd weeks of September.

I had a overnight low of 51 here and it looks like the official low at Grand Rapids was 52 (note there were lows in the 30’s and 40’s in the UP and northern lower) that low of 52 and my low of 51 are the coolest lows since June 14th

Wow I just checked the cpc and below normal temps will rule for at the least the next 4 weeks! Incredible!
