Clean Air Action Day

A Clean Air Action Day is in effect for today for portions of West Michigan. This will affect people with respiratory illnesses such as Asthma. Try to avoid using gas-powered engines during the warmest part of the day if possible. Carpooling, using public transportation and biking all help limit the amount of air pollution on Clean Air Action Days.  This is in place for Van Buren, Allegan, Ottawa, Kent, Muskegon, Oceana, and Mason Counties.

A Clean Air Action Day is declared by the West Michigan Clean Air Coalition when weather conditions are likely to combine with pollution emissions to form high levels of ozone near the ground that may cause harmful health effects. There are many factors that contribute to a Clean Air Action Day, including high temperatures, light wind, no rain, and/or a wind direction blowing in polluted air from another area.

We will continue with temps approaching 90° through Saturday with increasing humidity levels.  Dewpoints will be in the mid-50s to 60. Our next chance of rain won’t be until late Saturday.

Summer arriving right on schedule! The weather at the Farmers Market in Holland was very pleasant ( I have a knife/garden tool sharpening booth there) yesterday, as long as I stayed in the shade. Hoping the rain will hold off until Saturday afternoon to give me time to pack up again. Enjoy the day, all!
