Our official high yesterday was 53.2° with a low of 40.3° at 6 am this morning. One would think that winter could be over or that we are being lulled into a false sense of security.
In case you didn’t notice the spring colors are the theme of the site now as I suspect we will probably see things start to green up outside.
As we are wrapping up the winter of 2019/2020 we the following stats from the NWS:

I am up in Petoskey for a few days, enjoying the great skiing at Nubs Nob! High temps all week will be in the low to mid 30’s and the skiing is incredibly fantastic! Who would have thought with all the warm weather hype on this blog? Forget Spring and drive up to snow country and enjoy winter in MI baby!
MV I noticed the different colors. It’s nice to see them change.
What about the end of March first of April???? I’m nervous

Clouds are rolling in the sun is gone temps are cooling off at least the furnace is off during the day now we are making progress lol…INDY
CPC blowtorch got even REDDER today! March is certainly looking very mild. I love long springs!
Matt had the outlook for March and keeps us above normal.. Hope it pans out. 🙂
Yes just got taken Louie for a walk the sun shining is beautiful outside ….it could stay like this all summer long that would be perfect for me ….INDY
Wow! Second straight day in the 50’s in Lower Michigan. And more 50’s coming up WOOD says? I love it!
Amazing you follow wood tv 8’s weather!! One would think differently from below lol….INDY..
This has to be one of the mildest winters we have seen in awhile. Birds are out and they know spring is about here.

Must be doing something right or not entirely wrong as my wife has tolerated me through 24 years of marriage today – thanks dear for all those years gone by where we could endure each others ideosyncrasies and differances with love and understanding.
Congratulations!!!
Slim
Congratulations to you and your wife!
Breaking news>>>>last winter there were a grand total of 2 people that predicted above normal snowfall for GR and they were 100% correct! Who were these 2 people that were spot on 100% correct! I will give you a clue, it was not, mookie, Andy, Jeff or Barry! Over the last 4 years these 2 accurate prognosticators have been correct 3 out of 4 years, incredible accuracy!
Dude, you were 40-50″ off this year. Not even in the ballpark. And we just had a top 10 hottest winter ever and you predicted a cold winter. Just own up to it. None of us get paid to do this, but it’s super annoying when you fill this blog for months with your predictions of snow and cold and then say nothing when we get the opposite.
Last winter was barely above average snowfall for GR, and below average snowfall for the rest of West Michigan.
I would not use the term “hottest” in describing a Michigan winter. But hey it was one of the warmest on recorded record. It would have been warmer and less snow yet if it had not been for February.
Slim
Well like berry says “barely” means official in the books ladies and gentlemen lol….yes above normal snowfall last year …INDY
Last year the Met Winter was below normal snowfall for GR.
You know it Indy – we nailed last year! Keep up with the facts! I love it!
Lol!!
Rocky (Rockford)
Get ready for 95 to 100 inches of snow and below normal temps. Nothing better! Incredible!

0 for 2. That post did not age well.
Here is the winter guess from WOOD TV 8 so it was just not Rocky and Indy “By the time all is said and done, our meteorologists’ forecast is that winter 2018-19 will average 1 to 2 degrees colder than usual.” And here are the snow fall totals ” Emily Schuitema predicts: 87 inches of snow in Kalamazoo, 83 inches in Grand Rapids, 100 inches in Holland and 101 in Muskegon. Ellen Bacca predicts: 90 inches in Kalamazoo, 89 inches in Grand Rapids, 106 inches in Holland and 94 in Muskegon. Matt Kirkwood predicts: 95 inches in Kalamazoo, 94 in… Read more »
And that’s the problem. There’s no accountability for people who get paid to put forecasts out there. This winter they stated time and time again how “accurate” they were in their forecast last year – and even went as far to say that they were the “better” weather station in West Michigan because of their predicting prowess. I guarantee this will all be swept under the rug at the station now that they were hilariously not even close this winter.
Lol…. No Accountability Mokiee says ..I guess I easily could run away when a heat wave comes from the blog right?? Example like running away from the problem going and hiding under a rock leaving the scean ect ect or all the sudden coming back from Florida What about that accountability mokiee?? I’m pretty sure you have done that in the past right? INDY
LOL I’m not predicting heat 100% of the time. If I make a forecast, I try to be transparent and accountable. Unlike a few on here.
Ohhh really who you fooling? INDY
Thanks for the facts! Great job!
INDY predicted 107 inches wow it did not happen just remember if all that rain or precipitation we had this winter was snow we would still be shoving it … Above-normal precipitation we fell so yes we where right it just wasn’t all snow that fell ha ha ….INDY ..
Winter over?…sure, whatever you say. Thankful for getting through a “winter lite” version, of the worst possible season.
Winter is definitely not over! This delusion happens every year! We will be seeing plenty of below freezing temps, more snow, cold rain and possibly freezing rain!
Wasn’t Matt Kirkwood on air predicting a cold March just a few weeks ago? Between predicting over 100″ of snow, a cold winter, and a cold March – his recent track record has not been good. Yikes.
My only disappointment from this winter was that I was not able to fish through the ice. Other than that, I have no qualms.
Good thing you didn’t or you’d end up like these people:
https://www.fox17online.com/residents-give-boat-to-help-rescue-3-people-who-fell-onto-ice-in-grandville
Unbelievable!
I know, right? A guy died this weekend after he fell through the ice in Tawas Bay. RIP and all, but c’mon.
I did 3 times it was beautiful outside ….not enough though …..INDY
Boy, the outlook maps are looking darker and darker red. I sure hope we don’t have a repeat of 2012 coming this year. It would be nice if temps just stayed right around 50 for a couple months. Perfect temp for working outside.
Big time heat is on for basically all of March now for us! I predicted an early spring when a few on here were calling for a cold March.
Interesting
Slim
Nice Winter stats! I would love to see a repeat of those every year! Muskegon almost 40 inches below average snow? Wow. It was nice to have a last month finally come in below average for precip, things need to dry out for a while!
I love short winters! If that could even be called a winter at all. WOOD: “Temperatures could again approach 50 next Sunday/Monday”
