For many of us this week will be busy spending time with friends and family. Mine is an especially large blended family and the house can be full of laughter and screams of delight from playful grandchildren during holiday celebrations. We have grandchild number 13 due in the next couple weeks. My oldest granddaughter Faith is a junior at Allegan High School and the youngest is Kelsey who is less than a year old. I am a lucky old man and grandpa…
To add more festivities into the mix my wife’s birthday is this week along with one of the grandkids. I consider myself blessed to have a large healthy family – all the kids have grown into self sufficient adults with homes and families of their own and all live within 10 miles of the old homestead.
While my wife and I may not be rich we are well off enough to live in comfort for the rest of our lives with a roof over our heads and food to fill our bellies, plus the smaller comforts of the dogs and cat to keep us company since all the kids moved out years ago. For all of these things I thanks the Lord daily.
As you all spend time with friends and families this holiday keep in mind all the blessings in your life both big and small and spread the joy of the season with joy and love.
We have high pressure dominating most of the U.S. with very little to talk about weather-wise across the whole country which is strange indeed. We have at least a couple more days of mostly sunny skies with temps in the mid 40s – we reached 43° here in Otsego yesterday.
We should see this pattern we are in hang around with perhaps a few minor bumps through the rest of the year with cold air returning after New Year.
I’m going to have to wax the Silverado this afternoon with a few Sprites in a tee shirt .. Beautiful first day of Winter that’s for sure ….INDY
About ready to get the grill out this afternoon and enjoy the warmth and sunshine!! So much better just hanging out on the back deck in the warmth than driving 8 hours just to find some man made snow!
Breaking Update…..officially up to 51 degrees out!!!! How’s that possible?!??! Unbelievable WARMTH!!!! Keep the warm weather ROCKING!!

Good point MV. I try to make a comment each day on the current post amongst all the other banter back and forth. Feel the most thankful for the family and overall good health with everyone. Half the kids were married off last year, the other two are spreading their wings a little and learning to fend for themselves. No grandkids yet, but can’t be to far off? And of course weather wise, how could it get any better than what we have now? Heading to the beach this afternoon just to get out and enjoy nature at its best.
The overnight low of 32 is about what our daily high temperature should be. Going to be people out on the golf course again today. Crazy.
