Football – Hockey

I watched Superbowl XXXI on TV yesterday with a young Brett Favre and Desmond Howard – they defeated the Patriots 35 to 27.  Drew Bledsoe was the New England Quarterback, John Madden was the sportscaster.  This was well before instant replays called by the refs.  I had to keep looking outside to make sure there wasn’t snow on the ground 😆 .  After that, I caught the end of a Stanley Cup championship game on another channel.

It is nice to see the networks are being creative showing these old games when we should be watching new ones.  Sadly the Lions last championship was in 1957 and I don’t see another any time soon.

I have also noticed a local radio station has been running old Tiger games from when Ernie Harwell was still announcing the games.  All of this has brought me back to the good old days of sports.

Yesterday we reached 66° in Otsego with mostly sunny skies.  I hauled out the lawn furniture from the shed and enjoyed time outside just fiddling around.  I am waiting for the COVID bug to ease up so I can order the lumber to build another larger shed out in my backyard.  I love working with wood and lumber – last summer I rebuilt my backyard deck which was over 20 years old.

Today should be another great day to enjoy some time outdoors.  Clouds with increase later this afternoon with the rain moving in this evening.

This weekend looks perfect. Hopefully, forecasts hold. WOOD has 70 and partly cloudy Saturday and 66 Sunday with some late rain. Driving around, I see some pools have now opened in Michigan, believe it or not.

Pools open??? it must be all of the 60 degree “heat” we have had. Maybe pool chlorine is a cure for the virus?

Stock market is now up +31% in a month, the weather is turning summery, and things are slowly starting to open back up. A lot of good news lately!

And the USA has over a million cases of COVID-19 and we are heading to more 60,000 deaths and we have governors opening up their states way to soon and this will surely lead to thousands of more deaths! The governor of GA needs wake up!

Ernie was the best. I would listen to him call games while wrenching on my car in the garage. Seems so long ago now.

Our son asked me if I think that he will be able to play hockey this fall. All spring and summer leagues/camps/activities have been canceled. I told him that I do not know. We are in the midst of very uncertain times.

Gorgeous morning. I just may take my laptop on the back deck this afternoon and work outside.

It is 48 and partly cloudy here. I cut the grass for the fist time this year yesterday. If past years are any indication cutting the grass will be a common form of exercise for the next several weeks. I too miss sports and not just watching, as I work part time at the Van Andel and 5/3 Ballpark so I am not working either. I miss the games but not some of the concerts that much. I do not think minor league baseball will be played this year. And as for hockey in the fall we will have to… Read more »

66 degrees and sunny yesterday seems to have scared off Indy and Rocky. Maybe they will be back from their vacations during our mini cool down this week.
