Another Beautiful Day Ahead

Yesterday we rose to 73.1° in Otsego with partly cloudy skies.  I put out the rest of the lawn furniture and the fire pit and finished mowing.  Starting to look a lot like summer.  I consider myself lucky I live in the country during the Corvid pandemic with lots of woods and animals to keep me company along with my wife.  I can’t imagine being caught in the city or an apartment during this time.

The tulips are blooming along with my quince bush which put out a lot of red flowers this spring.  We have a few daffodils flowering also.

We live in a nice neighborhood with friendly people which we can talk to with proper social distancing of course.  Just about all of us on our road have dogs so not much happens without a dog barking to keep us aware that something is moving outside.  It has finally dried out enough to take our lab out for walks, time for all of us to lose a bit of weight gained over the winter.

Today will be another great spring day with sunny skies and warm temperatures – enjoy it because temps will drop 10° tomorrow.

Have a great Sunday!

If it does snow next Friday/Saturday, I would have to imagine it would be one of the latest snowfalls recorded for GR.

Slim

While it is somewhat uncommon for it to snow in May it has happened in the past. And this may come as a surprise but the dates of next weekend May 8 thru the 10 have the highest snow fall records for Grand Rapids recorded history. For May 8 the record is just a trace and that has happened in 1980, 1954 and 1947. Now for May 9 the record is 5.5” that fell in 1923 and for May 10 the record is also 5.5” and that fell in 1902. The lasts snow fall at Grand Rapids that I can… Read more »

I have had snow on my birthday a few times MAY 14th loved it …..INDY

Slim

There has been a reported trace of snow fall twice on May 14th once in 2016 and in 1953. The temperatures were in the 40’s so the snow did not stick.

Bright and awesome morning today! Walked a couple miles down the country roads here, extra quiet today. Only seen 1 car go by, zero wind, just extra peaceful. Had a big fire last night with some of the family, keeping our distance of course. Still smoking this morning.

Yesterday was a great day for early May. And today is looking great as well.

This weather has been absolutely perfect! And I see temps have been raised for much of next week. 55-60 most of the days now according to WOOD. Last May we saw plenty of high temps in the 40’s to mid 50’s, so not too unusual.

We will take more below average temps YES!! Love it..INDY

We will have to see how next weekend ends up. Last year while there were 9 days that did not get above 60 for the month the low for the whole month at Grand Rapids was just 38. Will see how next weekend compares after Mother’s day. Remember that is the NWS calling for the cold weekend not me. We shall see.

Yesterday was a great day for early May. And while today also looks to be a good day weather wise that may not be the case next weekend. While things still could change but at this time it looks like next weekend could be near record cold. And there is a chance of some snow as well.

Everybody was outside yesterday. It was nice catching up with neighbors – from a safe distance, of course. My face and arms are a little pink today. Have a great day, everyone!
