Lots of stuff going on in Otsego yesterday – we had the Creative Arts Festival and the Otsego Band Invitational.  You had to be creative to get from the east to west through the city as the downtown area was blocked off from traffic.  My step daughter had a booth set up, she is a artist and crafter.  Classic cars and antique tractors lined the roads which in itself was worth going to see.

After stopping downtown we had to get ready for a wedding being held next door.  A little backstory:  my neighbor Scott and I built our homes pretty much the same time at the end of a two track on the west end of Otsego.  He is a local contractor and builder of residential homes.  We watched each others kid(s) grow up down here.  His daughter (and only child) Carly was great in soccer all through middle, high school and college.  Anyway, she was married yesterday next door where she grew up.  If you look at our south side web cam you can see the large barn that Scott built this summer where the reception was held.  At the end of the wedding he shot off some large fireworks.  What a great wedding!

Weather wise we are setting up for a roller coaster ride this week.  We have an area of rain moving in for this morning which will bring in cloudy and wet conditions though the day.  We could see a quarter to half an inch of rain today.  Tomorrow the clouds will clear out and give us perhaps our last gasp of summer-like humid conditions with highs into the 80s through Tuesday before our next system moves in bringing in more heavy rains and cooler conditions the rest of the week.  Highs will be in the upper 50s to low 60s with low temps in the low to mid 40s.  I am thinking it will be time to shut down the air conditioners and check the furnace.

Here at my house I now am at 0.60″ of rain for today. We will have to see how the temperature ends up between now and midnight, But so far the high here at Grand Rapids looks to be 56. If it stays below 60 up to midnight this will be the coldest maximum here at GR since May 20th. However don’t look now but there are a lot of mid 80’s to low 90’s south of the warm front.

Definitely feels like early fall today, although I don’t mind this weather on Sunday’s for some reason. I kind of enjoy going to church and getting coffee on a cloudy/rainy Sunday for some reason. But I will say my walk to campus later will not be pleasant! Also I do not have the exact rainfall totals here, but it will be interesting to see how the rivers react to all of this rain. I know flooding is much more legitimate in spring with snowmelt, frozen ground, etc, but it definitely seems as though the rivers will rise to some extent.… Read more »

I see we have another below normal temp day on tap and then after a brief 2 day warm up the rest of the week we will see well below normal temps! Incredible!

How can it be “another below normal” day when yesterday was the 19th straight day above normal?? Check your stats here:

We are entrenched in a long term below normal temp pattern with no change in sight. Currently 7 out of the last 9 months and I predict October will also be below normal! Truly an incredible pattern!

The first half of yesterday here in Sandusky was way to hot to try and enjoy the rides at Cedar Point. We spent some time on the beach of Lake Erie and everyone got sunburned, but the water temp was near perfect, warmest we’ve ever seen it this time of year. Then some rain came through in the afternoon and cooled temps down into the 70’s so it was much more comfortable tromping around the park. I must say with all the new rides over the years, Millennium Force is still the best ride ever designed after 20 years. Not… Read more »
