This is the day we as Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Believe it or not the Easter bunny is part of church tradition also.
The Easter Bunny (also called the Easter Rabbit or Easter Hare) is a folkloric figure and symbol of Easter, depicted as a rabbit bringing Easter eggs. Originating among German Lutherans, the “Easter Hare” originally played the role of a judge, evaluating whether children were good or disobedient in behavior at the start of the season of Eastertide. The Easter Bunny is sometimes depicted with clothes. In legend, the creature carries colored eggs in his basket, candy, and sometimes also toys to the homes of children, and as such shows similarities to Santa Claus or the Christkind, as they both bring gifts to children on the night before their respective holidays.
You have to go back more than 60 years for the last time Easter and April Fool’s Day were on the same day.
For the first time since 1956, Easter Sunday falls on April 1. Since 1900, Easter has fallen on April Fool’s Day only four times – 1923, 1934, 1945 and 1956. It won’t happen again until 2029.
We will be having the traditional ham today with most of the kids and grand-kids coming over. We put out plastic eggs with ‘surprises’ in them in the back yard. Last year we were coatless as it was much warmer than today will be. I think our Labrador retriever will find most of the eggs before the grand-kids do. It will be fun to watch for sure.
A chilly day is in store but some sunshine can be expected as high pressure builds into the region. Dry weather will continue on Monday before a low pressure system spreads a variety of weather into the area on Tuesday. Snow accumulations are possible across central and northern lower Michigan, while rain and a few thunderstorms are forecast across southern Lower Michigan.
There is a chance of freezing rain and snow north of I96 Monday night. With the cold air north and warm air possibly reaching around 60° I94 to the south we have a zone where thunderstorms may develop. The SPC has us in the general thunderstorm outlook for Tuesday for southern Michigan.

Cross your fingers and hope for the Chinese satellite Tiangong 1 to stay aloft long enough to make it over us about 6:30 tomorrow morning! It will probably be our only chance of seeing it go by burning up. The other passes are during the daylight at 8 and 9:30.
Currently we 10 degrees below normal for the month of April 🙂

It is one of the most hilarious maps I’ve ever seen. It has my area getting 10 to 18 inches of snow this week. I guess we will see how that turns out.
You are misreading the snow map. It shows the Zeeland area picking up 3 or 5 inches over the next 10 days!
Happy Easter!
