We have had rather dry conditions over the past couple weeks as most of the systems have been dropping rain south and west of us. We have seen a lot sun though most of the days have been cool. The grass is greening up and it is getting close be begging to be cut – the flowers are blooming and they are all begging for some decent rain. The GFS is showing a quarter to half inch tomorrow but I think that is over done and we will see closer to a tenth of an inch.
High pressure will provide sunny and pleasant weather today before a cold front on Friday ushers in chilly weather for the weekend. Highs on Saturday will struggle to reach 50 degrees. The cold snap will be short lived however and above normal temperatures in the 70s are expected for much of next week.
Our best chances of rain will come late next Wednesday as a low develops over Kansas and moves towards Michigan, we may even see some storms over the area dependent on the track of the low. After that temperatures have a good chance of being below normal again..

Afternoon GFS run doesn’t show much cooler air after next week’s warm up now. Then another big jump in temps around May 6th!
There was a good amount of frost at my house this morning. The low at the airport was reported at 34° but I had a low here of 31° Even after highs of 64,74,62 and 61 the mean so far this April is just 38.4° that is a departure of -8.6°. With highs of 64, 55, 50, 55 and 70 the rest of the month we will still end the month well below average.

April 30th, 2017: 44 degrees. This year: 70+ degrees! I’m loving today and the extended forecast.
April 26th 2017 the high in Grand Rapids 81 will not be that warm today in fact there may be a late afternoon cool down as a lake breeze moves in.
