Wet and Gloomy

Now here is something we haven’t had for awhile – a moist and gloomy day.  We have had a nice steady rain here at the station since 4am.  We have seen .29 of an inch since midnight bringing our total to .73 for the month already surpassing our September rainfall by .15.

We have expectations of high winds tomorrow along with more rain.  We may see wind advisories for Saturday with gusts forecasted up to 45mph.  The NAM is showing 1 to 2 inches of rain through Saturday and the GFS around an inch for most of lower Michigan.

We are continuing to see above normal temperatures right on through the 18th.  The CPC is showing above normal temperatures and below normal rainfall persisting through the rest of the month.  I am not seeing a heavy frost any time soon.  Normally we would see our killing frost at least by the second week of October.

Enjoy what rain we may get today and tomorrow – next week looks to be mainly dry for southern Michigan.  You can see the full forecasts on the Michigan forecast page for the whole state.  I hope you are enjoying the new site which I have hopes will draw more attention as this is the only site which gives a forecast for all of Michigan all on one page in an easy to use format.

I was so grateful to receive .84″ of rain last night! Also glad we pulled our boat out of the lake (always a sad chore) yesterday, considering the wind warning for tomorrow. Yesterday was perfect – the lake was like glass, and as I skimmed over the crystal-clear water, it seemed like the lake was 6″ deep and I could see everything: fish, golfballs, a beer can, etc 🙂
