After a two week period of sunny and dry weather we will be seeing active period on the horizon. The last time it rained was September 3rd. Even though it has been dry my grass has been growing is still green. The past two days we have reached 87° in Otsego and the past five days we broke 80° .
Currently there is a large area of rain extending from Milwaukee to the Dakotas creeping towards Michigan. We have a 20% chance of rain today and chances will be increasing as we get into the Wednesday through Friday morning time frame. Best chances will be Wednesday night through Friday night. The best chances of any severe weather would be Thursday afternoon and night with the main threat being lightning and heavy rains.
Looking ahead at the long range guesses we may see our first night time lows in the 30s the first week of October, so there are changes on the horizon.
Otsego has the annual Creative Arts Festival on Saturday with arts and crafts for sale and of course the car show which lines two blocks of the downtown area. I will probably be wondering around seeing the sights – I will be wearing my Skywarn shirt and a cowboy hat if you want to stop and talk to me.
+5.1° for the month. The average high now is only 72°, so the next few days should bring the number down a bit.
So we had full sun to the south and it was raining… HUGE drops. We were waiting for a rainbow… but nothing.
Like the new look Micheal . You should have blog party to help raise some funds for your sight …INDY!
We will be seeing a near normal temp winter with about 90 inches of snow for GR! Get ready and don’t believe the El Niño warm winter hype! Y
You also said no more 90’s two months ago! Whoops!
Bring on the 40’s and 30’s!
For what it is worth the 2019 Old Farmers Almanac it calling for a warm/wet winter in the Lower Great Lakes area. And a warm dry for the northern Lakes area. Their guess is for a much warmer than average January and February.

Here’s a question for everyone. Has anyone seen any wasps or yellow jackets this Summer? I realized the other day, I have not seen one! Late August and into September they are always swarming all over the place, especially the rotting wild pears we have all around our property. Just having a open can of pop outside would always attract them, but I have not seen a single one. There are usually yellow jacket nests in holes in the ground around the yard, always have to watch out when mowing, but this year there are none.
I had a big nest in front of the garage. And I have seen some around the yard so they are out there. Now the mosquitoes are a real issue at this time.

I have seen a few but not as many as normal – haven’t had to remove any nests this year
Plenty of both visiting our bird baths through the dry summer.
Just once. I was looking for my golf ball out of bounds (of course) about a month ago. I stumbled across a nest in the ground. I was swarmed and high-tailed it out of the woods. Got stung a dozen times. The one in my earlobe hurt the worst.
The new layout looks good Michael

Created a new logo and changed site coloring to match – it has been over a year since I have made changes here – hope you like it….
I like it! Looks very professional!
It looks so cool!!!
👍
Looks very nice.
Looking like another year like several others recently where we do not get any significant snow until late in the year, or even January. Most of the country looks to stay well above average for the next three months.

I’m thinking we will see snow in October this year it’s just a matter of time this is going to be a bad winter coming up the squirrels are acting very strange.. Something is brewing up stream and it’s white ….89 days still Christmas it’s coming! INDYDOG14!!
My sis-in-law was married outside on 10/05/05. It snowed. It made for great wedding photos, though. The trees in full color with white flakes falling from the sky.
In middle September, Lk Mich temps are still warmer than their average summer peak. This is why it’s so silly that a lot of pools/beaches unofficially close September 1st. The water is about 10 degrees warmer than early July.

Hit 90 degrees yesterday! How can that be?
Here at my house it now has been 12 days without any rain (11 days at GRR) With the lower sun angle and the rain we had late August and early September the grass is still very green here. GRR had another 90° day yesterday. That gives GRR 19 for 2018. And Grand Rapids is now has a mean of 70.1° (+4.6°) Still on track for one of the warmest Septembers on record.
