Warm & Dry

We have a warm 72° at 5:30 this morning in Otsego with only .09 of an inch of rain overnight.  This has been a warm month with only two days with highs in the 70s, the rest were in the 80s with a few 90s mixed in.  We have had 2.33 inches of rain for July falling over 4 days.

We have lost just over 40 minutes of daylight since the summer solstice in June however we have had over 70% of possible sunshine for July thus far making this a sunny and warm month.

We may see a few showers along the I-94 to I-69 corridor into the early afternoon, then skies will gradually clear and become sunny into the evening. Meanwhile, temperatures will be more bearable, with highs in the 80s. Tuesday should see sunny skies and highs only around 80.

We should close out July with dry conditions with highs in the low 80s which is near normal for our area.

Forecast Discussion

– Few Showers Through This Afternoon, then Clearing –

A few showers will still be possible across the I-69 corridor into this afternoon as a slow moving cold front continues to move through the area. Precipitable water values are still pretty robust up to 2 inches, so any showers that do develop may produce high rainfall rates. By the late afternoon this front should depart to the south, with gradually clearing skies from the northwest finishing the day.

– Seasonable and Quiet Most of this Week –

Not a whole lot of forecast highlights to discuss this week as upper troughing sets up through the majority of this week. We may see some low chances for showers near mid-week across southern lower, but otherwise, most areas should stay dry into Sunday. To top it all off, temperatures will become more seasonable starting today as a slow-moving upper level low over Ontario and Quebec introduces cooler northerly air. This week will also feature a fair amount of sunshine and light winds. – Next Chance For Rain Early Next Week – There`s still a bit of disagreement on precip chances next week, but long-range guidance suggests the potential for showers returning near the first half of next week.

It is rather pleasant out. 69 degrees out with a dew point of 64. Somewhat humid but just the fact it is cooler is so much better.

Well, contrary to some forecasts, we just had another HOT weekend. Hit 91 degrees in GR yesterday with lows in the 70’s. This marks the 10th 90+ day in July, alone.

Not pleasant at all when I left this morning. 76 degrees and a 74 dew point at 5 a.m. That is just wrong!
