The word for today is unsettled. We currently (at 0730) have rain moving south east from Grand Rapids to South Haven the heaviest is moving onshore from Douglas to South Haven (feature Radarscope image) After the rain this morning things should clear out bringing a pleasant day with near normal temperatures. We will maintain chances of showers and storms through the weekend mainly in the afternoon and early evenings each day.

I have rarely used my AC all year, other than at night for good sleeping temps! My electric bills are not higher than normal this year!
Thank goodness we received a “summer”…nuff said.
Winter is right around the corner.
Sigh – it’s nice to live on a lake, don’t get me wrong. But when that lake has warmed up to “coolish hot-tub” temps – the heat and humidity rising off the lake have us at 87 degrees with a 75 degree dewpoint. I’m still hiding in the A/C
It feels like it has been unusually hot and humid or at least more days like that this summer. I have heard a lot of folks say they have the highest electric bills they have ever had.

Nice link! It has been a way hot year. The only ones I can recall being hotter would be 2012 and 1988.
OK this is going to be long but as far as this summer stack up compared to past summers at Grand Rapids. For July this year the mean for July at Grand Rapids was 74.4° but there have been many Julys that have had a warmer mean then this year. Here is a list of some of the more recent ones. I will only go back to 1984 2012 79.2, 2010 77.0, 2010 75.5, 2002 74.9, 2006 74.7, 1999 74.7, 1983 74.7, 1988 74.4. For June this year the mean at Grand Rapids was 69.9° once again going back to 1984 here is a list of June’s that the mean was warmer than this year. 2005 72.9, 1991 71.2, 2012 70.8, 2007 70.6, 2016 70.3, 2014 70.2 and 1984 70.1. May was much higher up the list and was the 4th warmest May on record here at GR and this happened after April was the 4th coldest on record.

I wish they kept track of dew points, as this years seems to have been a lot more humid more of the time than other years. When we’ve had a front go through, it’s only dried the air out for about a day, and then the dew points jump right back to around 70. Maybe I’m just less tolerant as the years go by, but we’ve had our air running now for 4 straight months. There is never a time when the air has been dry enough to open windows.
I wish that records for DP’s were kept also. I am not sure why this year has been so humid. I know there was a lot of rain to our SW at the start of the summer but not sure if that is the reason or not. As to the # of 90 plus days yes the number we have this year does not happen very much.

I agree. It feels no different when it is 89° or 90° (both hot). But it is a huge difference depending on the dew point.
By hot year, I was referring to, as in the article, the # of 90 degree days. Close to 20 in a year does not happen a whole lot.
Lake Michigan is up to 80 degrees! Now that is rare.

LOL if you don’t think the 90’s are hot
More spin from Mookie – 2 days in the 90’s and a bunch of near to slightly above normal temps! Welcome to summer and enjoy the low to mid 80’s because they won’t last more than 2 or 3 more weeks!! Get ready for Fall baby!!!
Well that’s what you said last year and we had a week of near 100 degree temps a month later. Please don’t make it happen again!
September will be awesome! A lot of 70’s during the day and 50’s at night! Can you say PERFECT?
“Near to slightly above average” Spin… Just say “warm” or “hot” Rocky. I dare you LOL
