In Christianity, Judaism and Islam Michael is mentioned as the archangel and leader of God’s army. I generally don’t get into religious matters here or get preachy, however being one who has studied and taught these things (I used to teach spiritual warfare classes and other Biblical Studies) I can say that Michael is considered the strongest entity next to God. He is the one who cast Satan from heaven when he (Satan) rebelled against God.
There are many things we don’t see or understand beyond our human sphere which we take by faith and feeling. We exist in a physical world with some seven billion other people, most who don’t look beyond those things which remain hidden. The evil which exists in the world comes from Satan and his army. Having studied demonology I know these things to be true and that evil can be conquered through the power of prayer.
I could go on about these things, things which one must study, believe and try to understand, however this is a weather blog and I was just giving some background on the name Michael. If you want to know more visit your local church or synagogue (or you can email me if you have questions or want more info).
Michael is a tropical storm now which is probably going to become a cat 2 hurricane as it passes the western tip of Cuba and moves into the gulf. There are hurricane and tropical storm watches for the Florida panhandle, southern Alabama and Georgia. The gulf now has a hurricane warning in effect. We will have to watch how this effects oil production as there are some 175 oil rigs and platforms in there. There are safety standards in place for these rigs during hurricane warnings:
- Evacuation of non-essential personnel is mandatory.
- Issuing regular warnings and updates on any impending disruptions.
- Suspension of all drilling operations.
- Closure of wells to avoid flooding.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see gas prices go up in the near term.
For Southwest Michigan we will see a surge of warm air enter the state with temps in the low 80s today, mid 80s tomorrow and low 80s again on Wednesday. We should come close to breaking records on Tuesday for a high temperature. Dew points will inch into the upper 60s so it will feel more like July than October. We have around a 30% chance of rain through Tuesday night then it jumps to 70% on Wednesday when the cold front goes through.

Yup, may be cool but, NO snow in sight !! Lol !!!
I see some are talking about trees turning and not not turning. I know by me some are really pretty. It was a beautiful day today and tomorrow will be the same. I am kinda grounded with my foot surgery just yet. Doing some reading & enjoying some tv.
21° above average today. It was hot, much too hot for October. I had to turn on the a/c again.
Michael I appreciate your weather blog thanks for letting me be apart of it!! How’s it feel to have a hurricane named after you? Lol!! INDY!!

We know it’s only humid at your work and it never rains or snows at your house ! INDY!
Well I can only counter back with what the official weather station in GR reports, and the dew point there was 69. How about you supply some actual facts, pics, or links, or just simple proof about everything you post. You can’t ever back anything up other than throwing insults.

We noticed it too. It was like it got somewhat cloudy here for just a few minutes and it cleared.
The Fall colors are beautiful in most areas now I have been checking out some web cams up north wow this could be the best year for Fall colors in a long time!! Our backyard out at the YARDOFBRICKS is sparkling lots of yellow and red this year!! INDYDOG14!!
Here’s a pic out back by us, maybe 10 to 20% of a dull yellowish color:

I thought your trees all changed in August already and you said you were raking in early September. Odd.
Hey Barry did you get some rain this weekend? Lol! INDYDOG14!!
Who’s talking about rain, you were talking about tree colors. I think the heat is getting to you again.
Thankful for 48 hours to top coat the driveway today. Wzzm warning of flurries/snow for Sat/Sun. The end is not near, the end is here 🙁
Humidity levels are like July levels today! Back to summer for the next couple days. Mid 80s and possible record levels. Enjoy !
Yesterday ended up being one of the few days this year so far that ended up being exactly average temperature wise. Guess no one gets a win. Today the dew point is almost 70 again, well above our average high temp.
Close to record temps! Feels like summer. Then more warm temps after a brief cool down. Keep the warm temps coming!
I see that in the long range also. Looks like another warm up after this brief cool down later in the week.
Pretty decentgeomagnetic storm taking place, chance of northern lights tonight. Wouldn’t hold your breath though, we haven’t had a good show in years.
The fog has now let up a a lot here, the 10 AM temperature here at my house is 60° There looks to be a big warm up for later today and tomorrow, less so for Wednesday. The high in the forecast for today is 82. the record at Grand Rapids is 88 that record looks to be safe. As for Tuesday the high in the forecast is lower to mid 80’s the record is 84 in 1939 we will see how that goes, and Wed record of 85 will be safe. Of bigger importance is that there have only been 8 times it has gotten 80 or better on October 8 in GR history and for Tuesday the number is only 5 times. If it indeed reaches the 80’s today and tomorrow it will both days will be a record or a top ten for the date. BTW the latest 80 or warmer day in Grand Rapids was November 1, 1950 the average last 80 days is September 29th and the earliest last date was August 28 in 1918 Last year the last 80 day was October 9th
Slim
Gas prices already have been hovering around $3 per gallon, and I read that we should expect them to rise even more. Bummer.
Must be because of all the cool temps the past 5 or 6 months. Oh wait…….
Nope, Oil executives have a boat payment due this week.
