Here is the hazardous weather outlook from the NWS for today:
The morning storms are not expected to be severe. Briefly heavy
rainfall and cloud to ground lightning strikes will be the main
hazard with the morning storms.
A slight risk for severe thunderstorms exists this afternoon and
evening. Damaging winds and large hail are the main risks. An
isolated tornado is possible to the south of a Muskegon to Lansing
line. The primary storm motion will be north at 30 mph.
Rainfall could be heavy at times possibly leading to localized
urban and poor drainage flooding.
The NAM models shows the heaviest rainfall over the next couple days to be south of the Muskegon to Lansing line with 2 to 3 inches across this area. The GFS is less bullish giving southern Michigan 1 to 2 inches.
We have had .02 of an inch so far this morning (at 7am). My back yard grass has gone completely dormant while the front yard facing the road is nice and green from all the well water I have been putting on it. All of our flower beds and veggies are doing well, especially the tomatoes, they have been loving this hot air this summer but they have been living on well water also.
I will be home here at my station today to track any severe weather. Hopefully we will just get the rain and maybe some lightning and a few rumbles of thunder. I will keep the radar up for you to keep updated on where the rain is.
It looks like you better start watering your lawn again!
Just a horrible forecast by all of the professionals? What a joke!
You need better mets. Our local guy (Sheri knows whom I’m talking about) nailed this two days ago. It’s playing out exactly as he forecasted
Waiting for this rain reminds me of waiting for the fantasy snow storms we get every Winter. I did count 13 drops on our sun porch windows. Not sure this will alleviate our drought.
So far that is 13 more drops than I have gotten.

Crud – that beautiful line of rain is falling apart 🙁 (At least the stuff headed towards Gun Lake) Looks like areas to the east might get the better rains – but we’ll take any rain we can get.
Still no rain here in GR.

Raining here now.
Another re-run. Just keep staring at the “magical disappearing line”. Presto!…Change-o!
You know it! At least we are done with the 90 degree temps. Bring on Spring!!!!
Forget severe storms, I just want to see some beneficial RAIN!!! Bring on the rain!
I would be happy with that… bet our farmers would too!!!
This is when GR gets bad storms from the south .. INDYDOG14
There is an upper low to our west and that line of storms could get into GR from the SE. At this time I am much warmer at my house than the Airport. I have a reading of 89 and they only have 83°

I was wondering if this sun would help fire some storms.
LOL! As Hubby and I walked out of the restaurant about 12:30 and the sun was shining, I said “Oh NOooooo”. Now we have a nice line of mammatus clouds preceding the storm. The sky does NOT look happy
The sky looked weird this morning and it seems weird now too.
Nice storm line building just south of GR and heading north. Tornado warning just south of Michigan border!
Interesting how January and February had more rain and thunderstorms than July.
Severe?…honestly?…let’s just try to be happy if we happen to receive a half inch of rain this weekend.
So far not much rain here at my house as just 0.05″ fell over night. Cloudy here now with a temperture of 71° the DP is 62 and there is a cool east wind at this time.

WOOD has 89, 87 next week, and GR hit 86 yesterday. Where is the cool down?
Sure is humid out there today.
Yesterday was a great summer day with temperatures in the mid 80’s and low DP’s in the mid 50’s

Could be seeing our first severe storms of the summer today maybe even Tornadoes stay tuned. I’m ready to rack stack and Track INDYDOG14!
