The Detroit Lions have won four NFL championships, tied for 9th overall in total championships among all 32 NFL franchises; however, their last was in 1957, which gives the club the second-longest NFL championship drought behind the Arizona Cardinals. They are one of four current teams and the only NFC team to have not yet played in the Super Bowl. I am sure their time will come, hopefully in my life time.
Tom Brady at 41 is still going strong though he is not the oldest to quarterback in a NFL team. Believe it or not there have been at least 15 who played into their 40s which is a testament to their endurance and the strength of their front linemen.
The game marks Tom Brady’s ninth Super Bowl appearance. The Patriots quarterback has led the franchise to five Super Bowl wins during his 19-year career in New England. The Rams have been in three Superbowl’s losing to New England once already.
At this time there are still over 300 tickets available in the nosebleed sections going for $2500 or more – better hurry as the kickoff is at 6:30pm.
We have a toasty 41° at 7am – with the warm air and the cold ground we will see dense fog around the area along with some light rain and drizzle, a good day to stay inside to watch the pre-game activities. Better chances of rain and possibly a thunderstorm evolve on Monday. We had 13 inches of snow on the ground which has quickly compacted and much will melt away over the next couple days. This week will feature an active weather pattern with rain, sleet and snow – I will have a better look at this tomorrow.
Below is the January wrap up from the NWS.
Terrible game reminds me of our 4 terrible Detroit teams.. lol.. Sprites taste good though …INDY!!
Boring game so far at half time. Hope it gets better the second half!
Go Rams!
In the last 3 February’s it has gotten to 60° or better in Grand Rapids?

What a “pattern change”! Nearly 60 degrees warmer than just a few days ago. You don’t see swings that large very often. Starting to see green grass already in spots around the yard. Incredible!
Global warming .. Only thing it can be. 🙂
Going to pull for the Rams tonight ! Snow is melting fast, can now see green grass. Amazing.
Loving the look of this for mid-February!! Bring on that early SPRING!!

And these comments from the NWS discussion today!
Should winds remain gusty and
clouds fail to solidify, temperatures may make a run toward the lower 50s potentially making way for a pleasant early-Spring day.
L.A Rams all the way the Patriots remind me of warm slushie muddy weather in Winter year after year 38-17 finnial Rams! Weather news tracking a big snowstorm Wednesday into Thursday with major ice close which opens the door to more artic air for the weekend ..We have a very active pattern over Michigan stay tuned if you love cold and and snow we have more of it coming enjoy the Superbowl MV’S best …And for the Lions they can say they beat the Patriots this year that’s about it…INDY!!
Let it melt, let it melt!
It would be nice to see a team other than the Patriots once in a while in the Super Bowl. Getting a bit monotonous seeing the same people over and over, but then that’s probably what people said about the Red Wings when they were in their 25 year run in the playoffs.
What a rapid snow melt taking place! Took over a week to build the snowpack, and in 1 day already it has dropped by over a third. This could become the Winter known as the “2 Week Winter”.
We have lost more than half already. More green than white in the yard. Nice river flowing down the road too.
The Cardinals have not won a Super Bowl, but at least they have played in a Super Bowl.
I am looking forward to the rain (and possibly thunder) tomorrow to wash the salt and grime away.
