We have a cooler morning with 58° at 7 am. Yesterday we ended up with 1.40 inches of rain from our last system moving through. This gives us 5.36 inches for the month in Otsego. Last July we had 2.99 inches up to this date. We have 7.98 inches for the summer thus far compared to 11.99 inches last year. Last June we had 9.00 inches of rain.
Today will be much more pleasant with sunny skies and temps in the upper 70s in most places in SW Michigan. Our next chance of rain comes tomorrow night into Wednesday.
Forecast Discussion
...Cooler and Drier Today, chance of Rain Mid-week... North winds will bring a push of cooler and drier air with dew points finally falling back into the 50s today. Fair weather under shortwave ridging will prevail through Tuesday before another shortwave trough approaches with moisture return ahead of it on Tuesday night. Warm advection pattern will provide general ascent with showers breaking out Tuesday night into Wednesday. Model soundings show some tall skinny CAPE Wednesday afternoon with about 30 knots of 0 to 6 km shear so some convection is possible along and ahead of the cold front. The chance for rain continues into Thursday as a sharp H5 trough axis approaches but model soundings show instability and moisture is limited, so coverage should be isolated to scattered. A strong push of cooler air under upper troughing for the end of the week.

It has been an awesome sunny, no heat wave summer! One of the best so far!
A really nice start to the day today. Currently sunny and 61 here… this has otherwise been one of the cloudier years that I can recall (I think April was near-record cloudy, maybe even the whole spring?)
According to the last issue of the old channel 13 “Weather Guide” the average meteorological spring (1981-2010) at Grand Rapids has 52.7% of possible sunshine. Up to 2013 the lowest average meteorological spring sunshine was reported as 35.6% in 1980. This year the NWS has the meteorological spring sunshine as a reported 35% so yes that looks like this could have been the cloudiest spring at Grand Rapids. In the old Weather Guide 1958 was reported as the sunniest with 65.4%.

We have seen way more sunny days that’s these stats show! Ridiculous!
I guess the party cloudy days have been more sun than clouds!
It was definitely a cloudy April, but this summer we have seen tons of sun!
What a summer! What a great week of weather coming up! The cool weather keeps rocking! Incredible!
My neighborhood had about 1.9″ on Saturday evening?Sunday a.m I thought that seemed high compared to most of the others in a 50 mile radius, so I checked my neighbor’s gauge down the street, and he had the same amount.
Mid to upper 70s and lower humidity? Yes, please! It’s nice to have the windows open this morning.
Feels like mid-September weather today. Really really nice and a welcome change from yesterday’s muggy feel
The power is now back on here at my house. We went to Detroit on Saturday and seen the Tigers lose to the Twins (nothing new there). The weather for the game was warm but no rain. Most of the trip home was dry until we got to just west of Lansing. That is when the rain and wind came thru. And I mean heavy rain. There was some lightning but not really a lot. It rained all the way to Grand Rapids, sometimes heavy (not as heavy as the first wave) When we pulled in to our neighborhood we noticed that there were some trees down and the next door neighbor’s covering over their hot tub was in our yard. But at that time our power was still on but no cable and internet. We went to bed around 1:30 AM. At just before 3 AM during the 2nd storm that is when the power went out. And the power was out all day yesterday and did not get back on until just after 9 PM. I have tossed out just about everything in the refrigerator and not sure about what to do with the stuff in the downstairs freezer. There was a large ice tray in the freezer and that was still frozen so I think most of the things in there should be OK.

Sorry about your losses. No power loss in my immediate area but the north side of Lansing had quite a few outages.
