A thunderstorm was my alarm clock this morning – woke me up about 6:15 – still some thunder and lightning as I write this. We are definitely in a springtime weather pattern. So far this month we have had 3.34 inches of rain in Otsego and just over 5 inches for the past 30 days.
There is an areal flood watch for the areas in green on the map. Rainfall over the last few days has totaled from 1.5 to over 3.0 inches south of Interstate 96.
Additional rounds of showers and storms are expected from early this morning through Tuesday morning. New rainfall totals will range from 1 to 3 inches which may lead to flooding of low lying areas and along streams and rivers.
Below is the radar at 7 am this morning from Radarcope (you can purchase this from the Microsoft app store for $30 or $10 for the Android version from Google Play).
An active period will continue across Southern Lower Michigan with rounds of showers and storms both today and tonight. Locally heavy rain may lead to flooding south of Interstate 96, where another 1 to 3 inches of rain is possible Much less in the way of rainfall is expected across Central Lower Michigan. We will dry out Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday as high pressure builds into the region from the north. High temperatures the next several days will be above normal in the 70s.
Nothing there…nothing coming…not our weather.
So are those storms by Chicago going to make it here? Or be vaporized by the lake? They look to be heading straight at us!
After our 10-day warm stretch starting today, it looks like another warm period is coming.

Still getting some soft thunder – my weather dashboard says we’ve received 5.08″ this month. A few farmers had planted early – and now their fields have massive ponds 🙁
I sure hope this rain clears out this afternoon like they say. It is really wet out there. We had a little thunder earlier.
Wow, 70’s and 80’s as far as the eye can see. Sure is muggy out there already. GR still +5.1 for May with a warm 10-day stretch (at least) coming.
Yes with the DP in the mid and upper 50’s that helps make even the upper 50’s and low 60’s feel warmer. It is now 61 at my house and it feels great out there.

Incredible sunrise this morning. We could use a reprieve from the rain.
