Showers and storms stayed north, east and south of Allegan County yesterday some areas picked up two to in excess of three inches of rain from the slow moving cells (see feature graphic). Rainfall totals are just coming in to CoCoRaHS so I don’t have all the official totals yet. Lowell is reporting 1.22 inches, Saranac .58, Eaton Rapids .37 – reports generally come in after 7am so the maps are populating as I write this.
Total will probably be like yesterday – A cold front will push southeastward Lower Michigan today. For many locations the frontal passage will be dry…a few thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of this front. Some of the storms could be strong featuring gusty winds, hail and frequent lightning with the main threat being wind. The main location for the stronger storm potential will be along and east of a line that extends from Big Rapids to Grand Rapids to Kalamazoo region this afternoon, so best chances will be east of 131.
There is some development over Lake Michigan as I write this early this morning heading towards Allegan county and to the south we will see how well they hold together when they make landfall. Most areas in Allegan county have had less than half and inch of rain so far this month.
Goodbye heat and humidity and hello nice summer weather! I love it!
Dry here today not a drop of rain. What a beautiful evening- took the dog for a walk.. It was so nice once the humidity left.

So frustrating to see storms blossom just to the east.
Wow GR is up to 91 degrees! Outperformed forecasts yet again. Add another one to the count!
We’ve now had more 90+ degree days this summer than the summers of 2014, 2015, and 2017 combined!
The break down since 2007 is
2018 15 so far
2017 11
2016 19
2015 2
2014 0
2013 8
2012 32
2011 13
2009 3
2008 3
2007 21
the record number of 90° or better days at Grand Rapids is 37 in 1988.
I guess its a good thing that we live in Michigan for instance in Macon. GA the average number of 90° days in 82.5 the record is 116 (several years and the fewest is 31 last time was 1016) and the fewest is 31 in 1994.

Nice thin line of thunderstorms along the cold front. But hey look there is a big hole in that line and there looks to be no rain coming for the Grand Rapids metro area or along the lake shore.

Another 90° day here at Grand Rapids

It dont look good for most parts of west Michigan getting much if any rain with today’s front.

Unbelievably dry! Other than a 3 minute sprinkle here or there, I have not seen rain since we were on the way home from the airport on June 27 from our vacation. The day we came home everything looked so lush and green, stark contrast to Colorado where everything is crispy and brown. Now everything in sight here is turning crispy and brown! You are right though about the drier it gets, it will more than likely become really hot in August.
Temps in the 60’s and rain would be just fine with me!! This weekend looks wet and cool!! INDYDOG14!!
Not unless 80’s is now considered cool. And rainfull totals don’t look to promising either. Half an inch or less for the whole weekend, and going by the trend we are in, that amount will likely go down as the weekend gets closer.

Get ready for some below normal temps and some near normal temps for most of the rest of Summer! Bring it on baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’d sure like some cooler air to work in, but I don’t think so looking at these maps. Looks pretty warm for everywhere through the end of the year:

Thanks for the facts. It does look like a warm end of summer/fall/early winter
There will be a update on the long range guess on Thursday. We will have to see what if any difference the new long range brings. One thing if it stays this dry look for more hot days but with time the humidity should become less. Most of this humidity is from all the rain and corn off to our south west.

Rock on Slim!!!!
It’s now been almost 6 weeks without more than a 3 degree below average day. The latest models are still not showing any significant below average air in the long run. There are hints of heat returning for the second half of August, if not before.
This could be the last hot summer day for awhile looking like a nice cool down is close what looks even better is a low pressure coming this weekend it may spin right over us for 3 days and give us much needed rain…I’m thinking our weather Pattern is changing!! slim calls it a front loader of a summer with all the heat! INDYDOG14!!
Rock On Indy and keep the FACTS coming!
Grand Rapids now has recorded 20 days in a row of 80° or better and is now at 35 days in a row of 70 or better. So bottom line is one very nice first half of summer 2018. Now if only we could get some much needed rain. There are indications we could get some late this week we shall see.

While some spotty areas (a reported 0.11″ at the airport) did receive rain yesterday here NW of Grand Rapids not a drop. And yes it it now getting very dry in this area. And as it gets dryer the opportunity for it to get hotter in higher.

GR hit 92 Friday and Sunday. Add two more to the count!
We watched the storms form yesterday for our back yard to our East and Southeast, but not a drop here. Feels just terrible again this morning with the humidity. Seems like this has been going on for weeks now.
It has been just under 3 weeks since GR has seen it last day where it did not reach 80 or better.
