Though it has been cooler than normal the trees and other foliage has greened up nicely over the past few days. The flowering trees are mostly in their prime and the animals and birds are in full frolic. We have a few Grosbeaks this year at our feeders and the hummingbirds are back. We have a wide variety of birds flocking to our feeders and we have had to put up more to accommodate them – however if you put up more feeders more birds will come so you have to put up more feeders – it is a vicious circle. Our web cam is pointed at the feeders if you want to watch them.
Of course the squirrels compete with the birds for the food and are very agile and acrobatic not to mention determined to eat their food – I have a squirrel feeder in front of our webcam which usually contains an ear of corn and other treats.
One of my cats brought a mole for my approval the other day – they will follow the mole as it travels underground, when it pops up from a hole the cat grabs it. It is a good time to be outdoors to enjoy the wild life.
My neighbor has been finding morel mushrooms around her yard so it is time to grab a bag and get into the woods if you like the tasty morsels.
We have another cool day in store, however things should improve as we proceed through the week – the CPC is finally showing chances of above normal temps through the next 14 days though long range for the end of the month into the first week of June may return to below normal – this is a ways out so take it with a grain of salt….

While things have indeed became more green I still think we are a week or two behind where we should be at this time of May. I have gotten my tomato plants and will plant them this week. Should be OK as long as they are small enough to cover if it gets cold again. Had a light shower here and the temperature is now at 45
