A cool 26° this morning. We had some light snow overnight which stuck to the ground. With the temperatures above freezing and the ground warming the snow is hard pressed to stay put.
There have been a lot more birds around though I haven’t seen a robin yet. I do know we have had to fill the bird feeders more often. Sunday morning we had 25 small birds and a blue jay eating off the feeders in a big maple tree by our kitchen window. I sounds more like springtime when the sun comes up in the morning.
I am hoping we have a stormier spring this year – I have some new weather gadgets on order and a new HD video camera for storm tracking. I love a good storm as long as it is not destructive. I have seen some good ones in the past including the hail storm in Allegan I spoke about the other day and a storm in Hopkins in 1978 which took down almost every tree in the village with straight line winds. When I see the trees falling I know it is time to get in the basement. We didn’t have the storm technology back then we have today – we were dependent on the TV and radio and we didn’t have the storm tracking apps and Doppler radar back then.
Not much to talk about weather-wise. A cold northwest flow will persist through tonight. This will lead to continued snow showers which will be most numerous along the lakeshore. A few slick spots will be possible. An area of high pressure will settle in over Ontario for the middle part of the week. This system will act to keep the weather on the colder than normal side. We should see warming temperatures for the weekend. As I said in an earlier post and Slim has been showing the graphics I think we will trend a bit cooler than normal most of the month into April.
Temps look decent and no snow!! I’ll take it!

At times today we had heavy clouds, beautiful huge snowflakes and then sunshine. A very typical March day in Michigan.
Three Nor’easters in 10 days. Better them than us. 🙂
When I lived out in Rhode Island and Massachusetts area we had these & they are not fun to go thru.
Nov-Mar snow what will April bring INDYDOG14!
Yep…yet another “write off year” for MI. Cold 2018. Keep the coat within arms reach, and no need to feel guilty running the furnace through our sad excuse for summer. Fingers crossed in hopes of one 75 degree day in 2018.
Anyone see Bills Blog post on the Chinese satellite that has Southern lower Michigan in the bulls eye for the crash sight?? It would be awesome to see it coming down, but I really don’t want to get smacked in the head with debris!
It would happen so fast you wouldn’t know it. Just kidding. I really don’t think we have anything to fear of that happening here. They are not even exactly sure when it will happen. It could be a week earlier or later. It will probably burn up as it enters the eath’s atmosphere. If it fell in Lake Michigan it would be a cool thing to see but I think it is toxic. So no it doesn’t need to crash anywhere & I wouldn’t waste any energy thinking about it.
The CFSv2 continues to show colder/dryer then average into the start of April.

Cool yes, but you keep talking about snow like it’s piling up all over. We can see quite a ways out the front of our house, and there is no snow to be seen anywhere.

No sledding, snowshoeing, or skiing around here. Just bare ground and bright sunshine!
Right on Barry. Besides being cool. Nothing to speak of as in snow on the ground. Spring arrives next week !!
