I have tried to keep this site as is for over a year now but there are times when updates and security features must be addressed or forced by WordPress and my service provider. I have been blocking a lot of these updates with the exception of security but there is going to come the time when WordPress is going to have a major update before the end of the year. Now I am faced with the decision of staying with WordPress or coding a traditional web site from scratch. The site name will remain the same as well as most of the content regardless of the above changes.
I still am taking on all the costs of the site and will still remain ad free. As most of you know I hate ads especially on sites where one tries to read news and stories. I am a one man band as far as the coding and day to day maintenance and take no payment for my work here. I am thinking of setting up a temporary Go Fund Me page to help with the financing and to add additional features. The Interactive Radar on the main page costs $25 a month, the site and domain renewal is around $150 a year. I would like to add features from Aeris Weather which would cost another $50 a month. I also pay a monthly fee for added features for RadarScope.
That said – if you happen to come here and see that the site is down it is because of maintenance updates which must be fulfilled.
Another warm day of well above normal temperatures is in store. I generally like to shut down the air conditioning and pull the window units by the first week of October. I prefer the fresh outside air blowing through the house. It is close to the time of the battle of the thermostat between my wife and myself – I like to keep it set around 68° she likes it at 75.
There is beginning to be a lot of talk of the upcoming winter which is still a ways off and in my opinion to early to accurately predict though some have put their early thoughts out there. There are predictions of cold and snowy to warmer and less snow dependent on the development of the El Nino and what it does to the jet stream. The snow is already building in Siberia and the Canadian Rockies. At this point I am not so sure of a warm winter – will have a better idea when we get closer to November.
For now we should see a pattern change to a more active system as our high pressure block moves away with Florence passing up the east coast. A cold front dropping out of Minnesota will probably come through dry – there is a 20% chance of a shower on Tuesday as the front moves through. We have a better chance on Wednesday as the front comes back north. There is a chance of severe storms coming in the Thursday late afternoon/night time frame.
Get ready for lows in the 40’s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Been there, done that. We had a low of 48° a week ago.
Lets keep it rocking!
90 degrees here today. A/C is running. Looking forward to Fall bringing some cooler temps. My tree is getting more bright red leaves by the day.
I wished I lived in GR lol!! Only 88* out at thee YARDofBRICKS …..High of 68* will feel tons better Saturday! INDYDOG14
GR hit 90 today.. Some said that would not happen again this year. Lmao !!!
I know, the number of 90 degree temps has been ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE this year!!! Got the A/C going full blast and it feels great! All teleconnectors are pointing to this being another WARMER than normal and drier than normal EL NINO winter too! So get used to these WARMER than normal temps, they aren’t going anywhere!!! Sure there might be a few cooler than normal days here and there, but the WARMER than normal temps are going to be dominant for months!!
Yep, it was a HOT day. AC is cranked.

I know that it cost a lot of money to keep a site like this going and I would hope that some who post their views on here could help in any way they could if possible.

It appears the leaves are turning later than average this year.
Hit 87 degrees yesterday! A +12 above average day. More 80’s upcoming. Sure doesn’t feel like middle September.
Depending on how the next two weeks go Grand Rapids is on track for one of its warmest Septembers on record.

I’ll be very interested to see how GR’s May to September compares historically. It has to be one of the hottest such periods on record.
We will have to see how the next two weeks of September turn out but at this time, yes this is one of the warmest warm weather seasons on record here at GR. At this time time the mean for the 5 months at GR is 70.3° In 1921 the mean was 71.1° and in 2012 the mean was 69.1° There are other years that could come into play but it depends on the next 2 weeks.

What a great day at Holland beach yesterday! It looked and felt like mid July. Tons of boaters out, and the beach was just packed! With the heat index again over 90, and the overnight lows in the mid 60’s, bad news for the people who shut down their ac for the year.
A buddy of mine was at Beaver Island this weekend for a wedding. He showed me a pic of the lake during the ferry ride. I can’t remember the last time I saw Lake Michigan that calm.
