Today will be a shock to many as our temps will cool into the 50s after a warm and humid weekend.  After a possible bout of frost tonight in the counties north of Kent, Ottawa and Ionia we will warm things back up, however the weather pattern will become more active once again Tuesday night through the rest of the week.  Kent county on to the south will drop into the 30s tonight.

We had .35 of an inch of rain yesterday with a bit of thunder and lightning from the storms which moved through – nothing serious for Allegan county.  Next door in Barry county there is a report of an EF0 tornado touching down between Dowling and Maple Grove with top wind speeds of 75 to 80 mph.

    1. I think I last posted about 12 days ago. In that time, GR has seen 6 above average days and 6 below average days.

      1. And 8 months since our last 80* degree temp in GR crazzy stretch we have going for being the almost the end of MAY!!
        Cool spring we are having!! INDYY!

    2. It has been awesome not hearing mookies warm weather hype machine! We are entrenched in a below normal temp pattern in 2019!

  8. The very highest TOR:CON values have been issued for today. Haven’t seen that in years. Watch out, Oklahoma and Texas. That is crazy!

    1. Yesterday, dozens of school districts in Oklahoma canceled school for today. They are not messing around.

As for frost in late May it is not unheard of, at Grand Rapids using a low of 35 there have been 5 times in the last 30 years that it has gotten to 35 or below on or after May 20th the last time it happened was in 2015 when GR has a low of 35 on May 20th The current temperature here at my house is now at 48 with cloudy skies.

  10. 5 above average days in the 70’s in a row with 80’s on the way for this week! Also, had at least one tornado in Michigan yesterday. MLive says get ready for another long, hot summer. Will 2019 be our 5th straight warm year?

  11. Just 0.13″ of rain here at my house, there was more 0.41″ at the airport.There was no thunder here at my house and just a brief heavy shower. GRR is now at -2.1° for May.

  12. Nice double rainbow, Mark! And a “3-minute tornado” – isn’t that just like Michigan?? Considering that a full radar scan takes 4-1/2 minutes, I’m surprised they even saw it!

    1. Thanks Deb. It may be difficult to see but the cool thing is that the end of the rainbow was in front of that tree.

      That was the quickest tornado warning I had ever seen. By the time i heard about it, it was cancelled.

  14. More below normal normal temps the next 2 or 3 days! What a cool month and what a cool year so far! 5 months in a row! What a major pattern change we have seen the last few months? Let’s keep this rock n roll party rolling all year long!!!
