After a warm week last week we will be entering a wet and cooler pattern. Still for the most part this week will be slightly above normal temperature wise. The main theme for today and tonight will be the rain – it won’t be a pleasant day for outdoor activities.
We have a cold front to our west with a surface low riding up the front – which will the cause the rain to increase late this afternoon and overnight. At this point it still seems the heaviest rains will fall between Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids – we already have a third of an inch in Otsego this morning with expectation of another inch or two on top of that. The amazing thing is the temp is at 68° at 6am which is close to our average high for this time of year.
After a couple calm days we will see another system move in for Wednesday which will bring more rain and perhaps a few storms – then we will see temps fall into the mid 60s for Thursday.
Warm weather will return next weekend with high temp guesses in the 80s once again with the pattern going zonal from the Pacific rather than from our friends in Canada.
On a side note – as I expected the Wolverines had a bad day against the Badgers – final score was 35-14. However, the Wolverines did score two touchdowns. The Badgers had scored 110 points their first two games holding their opponents scoreless. The Spartans won their game 31-10.
Just think by the end of next month the high temps will be in the mid 50’s with lows in the 30’s!
Yep…rain today!!…sure thing.
It was another great day on the golf course. I got in 9 holes and not a drop of rain! Incredible!
The rain is taking it’s time getting to WMI. Ada received .40 inches overnight.
Rain, what rain? Watch the Lions? I don’t think so! I off to the golf course on a day the NWS said heavy rain!
Definitely was gross and humid the past couple days. Yesterday ended up at +14 above average! Next weekend our entire family is going to Cedar Point, always our favorite time of year to go because temps are usually in the 50’s and 60’s. Not looking forward to sweating it out with temps in the 80’s. On a side note, our youngest daughter was in a pretty bad car wreck. Good news she is ok other than some bruises, but this is the second car wrecked in our family in the past week and both were hit by drivers not paying… Read more »
I am so grateful to hear she is okay. My son just got his license on Thursday and I am terrified for him for the reasons you stated above. Too many distractions w/ too much speed. He is only going to be allowed little bits at a time for his privileges until he is comfortable with his own skill of defense driving ( and mom to slowly to accept this whole new era of independence :). Again, I am so happy to hear no major injuries… just sucks to have a damaged car 🙁
Barry so sorry for the wrecked cars… thank God daughter is ok!
Sheri… can’t agree with you more!
Dealing with wrecked cars is hard but so glad to hear your daughter is ok. Like I say cars can be fixed or replaced people can’t. Drivers need to slow down and pay attention to what is going on around them. It seems like every time we go out we have a close call.
Sorry to hear Barry. Glad shes going to be ok ..
Glad to hear your daughter is OK. Cars can be replaced but people can not. And yes there are too many drivers that seem to think that they can do anything that they want to.
Slim
Here at my house I have recorded 0.35” of rain overnight. But, the bigger story is the rain to come. And so far the overnight low at Grand Rapids so far looks to be just 70 (68 here at my house) if the temperature stays at or above 67 until midnight that will set a new warmest minimum for September 22. The H/L at Grand Rapids yesterday was 85/64. GR has now seen 12 days in a row of above average temperatures. The record high for today is 95 set in 2017. The record low is 33 set in 1976.… Read more »
U of M looks worse than the Lions! Incredible! Harbaugh is a joke!
That’s one thing we both agree on.
Rock on Jeff!
